I can highly recommend City Room. The one bedroom apartment was plenty of space for one person and well outfitted for my 7 week stay in Berlin. The apartment was very clean and reasonably priced for an apartment in a popular neighborhood. Plenty of grocery stores, shops and restaurants are meters away. The proprietors were available when needed, but are... More

Communication before our arrival was very good, on arrival we were shown around by the owner's mother who was lovely. The apartment was reasonably spacious, comfortable, well equipped and very clean. The local neighbourhood we loved, maybe not the smartest part of town but it had a huge range of reasonably priced restaurants including Mamay a Vietnamese restaurant about 20... More

Considering these apartments are on a main road with an overground railway above it there was no evidence of this once inside the courtyard. It was quiet and felt very secure too. We were met by Marc who was so helpful explaining how things worked and locating places of interest on the map and recommending cafes, shops and so on.... More

I booked this apartment online for a surprise trip to Berlin in Feb 2013 and had very high hopes based on all the wonderful reviews! It all started off well, the apartment is pretty easy to get to from Schonefeld airport (although we didn't follow directions given to us in an email because we found a much quicker way). We... We stayed in this charming and inexpensive B&B in Berlin, Germany. We rented the 2 person and 3 person rooms. The beds were fairly comfortable, brightly colored and very large living room area with a small table, with chairs and a couch in each room. VERY CLEAN. Everything is older but well maintained. Bathrooms were immaculate, showers hot, and towels... More

Pros. We have rated this 5 because, for the price, it is a great option. This is our second stay in city-room, Berlin. The apartments are a great choice for a holiday or short term stay - especially if you have children. Not only do the cooking facilities mean that you don't have to eat out all the time, it... More

We stayed there around New Year for 10 days. The place is pretty central, near tram, S-Bahn and U-Bahn 2, and also near to a big shopping mall. The guy who rented the appt was very kind and helpful. The only problem was that the washing machine was broken but he washed our clothes somewhere else and delivered them to us... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
