This was our first trip to Berlin, we absolutely loved the city and the location of this hotel couldn't have been better. Only a 3 minute walk from Kochstrasse station on the U-Bahn, which is right next to Checkpoint Charlie, it was easy for us to get to all the main attractions straight from our hotel. The staff on the... More

Fast, help full and responsive staff. I've been to Berlin several times and usually stay at more "creative" places. I usually only choose hotels like this one when on business trips. But a really pleasant surprise. I was worried that the location would be a problem regarding to nightlife (as this was definitely not a business trip), but the location... More

I booked two twin rooms at this hotel in October the previous year and received an email confirming this. On arrival at the hotel my friends and I went up to our rooms to discover that both the twin rooms were, in fact, double rooms. I went down to reception to see if this could be fixed but the receptionist... More

Nice enough hotel, reasonably close to checkpoint Charlie and associated sights, and the U Bahn. Unfortunately my confirmed reservation for a twin room turned out to be a double instead. Booked months in advance, this was disappointing. This was unacceptable for my friend and I. These things happen, but the person on the desk checking us in seemed indifferent to... More

This was my 4th visit to the hotel in 2 years and I really love the place. The staff is very friendly, the food, especially breakfast, was excellent again. I had a 'Soljanka', a soup with sliced sausages and meat, in the bar and it was delicious. The internet worked like a clockwork and easy to have access. 2 small... More

My wife and I booked 2 nights at this hotel. Was our first time in Berlin. Hotel was easy to find and close to the underground station Kochstraße though we found many of the sights for first time Berliners were within walking distance and didn't use the underground much. Check in at the hotel was quick and easy, as was... More

My husband and I stayed at the hotel along with my three brothers and their partners. The rooms although small were spotlessly clean along with the ensuite. Breakfast had a vast amount to pick from and hotel staff were friendly. It is right by checkpoint Charlie and also very near the tubes stations. I would say that if you are... More

This hotel is located close to checkpoint charlie, a bustling tourist area which is filled with cafes, take away and a few paid for attractions. You are close to the U-bahn. You are also walking distance from the main sights in Berlin. The hotel is clean and well presented. Despite a central location, not much noise can be heard, but there... More

For my first trip and stay in Berlin, I did not know what to expect. But all my fears about the hotel was gone within seconds after my arrival. The service at the front desk was good, the hotel lobby was clean and warm, it even got better when we opened the door to the room. A big, very clean,... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
