I booked the hotel through a website which doesn't let you see where you're staying until you've paid - and as a result got a nice room at a sensible rate. The hotel is lovely, clean and fresh. The room was large and there was a good en-suite. There was no iron in the room though, or tea-making facilities. The... More

Hotels can be expense in Europe, so I booked this one for my family. It is not real big, but in a good location. Clean and modern. The breakfast offers a huge selection, but was pricey. Starbucks near

Winters Hotel Berlin (Checkpoint Charlie). We stayed for 3 nights city break in mid-Feb. We found hotel and staff all very good. Had a good-sized room with balcony on 3rd floor, overlooking street below. Street was not too noisy – mostly local traffic, it’s not a main route (see photo taken from balcony). King size bed (and this was a... More

Good accessibility to most areas of interest. Walked to everything, but could of easily used public transport. staff great, breakfast very good(hot and cold). Would have got 5 stars, but no wifi.(there's a bar 2 mins walk away if you need it) looking forwards to staying there again sometime.

This is one of the best locations in Berlin, very central, walking distance to many places to visit. The bed is comfortable, the huge windows to the calm street provide nice light. The reception and other staff are very friendly, and the bistro has good food. The best is the breakfast, a huge buffet with all you might want in... More

I stayed at the hotel with my friend for new year 2015. It was my first trip to Berlin and this hotel combined the package for everything, location, price and looks. Staff is very attentive and friendly and the hotel lobby is the lounge/bar area at the same time. We originally booked a standard double room but when we enter... More

This is an excellent choice for the area and a very good hotel. It's relatively new, spotless and modern and very centrally located. Pretty good wifi (couple of issues), comfortable bed and fantastic, powerful shower.Good breakfast and helpful staff. I booked a standard room though and found there was no desk or chair - just a shelf opposite the end... More

We stayed at the hotel several nights. The hotel is in a central location, 3 min walk from the U6. the hotel is near to restaurants of any kind. The rooms are clean and with reasonably sized. The first two days there was no Internet and the issue amended only later. Kind and nice staff and in overall reasonable value... More

I am currently staying in this hotel for the Berlinale. Although otherwise pleasant, it is completely useless for work because for hours at a time it is impossible to get online at all, anywhere in the hotel, the internet service reporting that it has "too many concurrent users". The management just says there's nothing to be done and offer no... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
