This oasis in such a hectic city is refreshing and calming. The lobby is massive and welcoming with several couch areas and a calming feeling that makes you feel like you should be whispering. There is a nice bar/lounge that serves great cocktails, try to Berlin mule with local vodka. If there lobby isn't quite enough there is a beautiful... More

I had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel de Rome for 4 nights a few weeks ago and overall I was very impressed. The room was clean and updated, with all the amenities one would need for a business or vacation stay. The maid service was also completely on top of things, coming twice a day (once to clean... Surprised because it is Germany and it is supposed to be a good hotel. Internet connection is worst than bad. Not very useful if you have to send big emails with attachment or use Skype. They offer a free and a paid connection. Both of them are really slow and not useful for working. Very frustrating.

We stayed 3 nights in a suite overlooking the cathedral square. The hotel is in a great position near the Brandemburg Gate and all the museums. Our room was spotlessly clean And the marble bathroom was huge and lovely. The price includes a free breakfast which was great. Masses of food at the buffet. The concierge was particularly helpful. It is central but in a calm street. My room view was to an open square. The hotel was built in an one bank building .The staff is gentle, the rooms are big with special amenities and the restaurant la Banca is nice. It is located in a walking distance from the most important sights in Berlin. I will probably... More

I have been in this hotel 4 nights and I must say it is really good! Also the position is great. The rooms are big, the room service is very efficient and the spa (big pool, gym, ecc) are very well organised and mantained. I reccomend you the brekfast, big italian/international buffet with very friendly personal. The only weak point... More

We spent 3 nights here over the Easter weekend. Before our visit I had asked the hotel if we could have a high floor with a view as it was our Anniversary and a King bed as the booking stated we could get twin beds/King bed. As soon as our taxi pulled up we were whisked inside by the doorman who... More

Hotel de Rome is a fantastic hotel that I would highly recommend to friends and family traveling to Berlin! Rooms are gorgeous, chic-ly appointed and nicely (and surprisingly) spacious. The lobby/ restaurant/ bar feature minimalist touches dramatized by contemporary light installations. Taken together, these elements create the feeling that you are staying/ dining/ and drinking just within the doors of... More

If you are used to the best of service at the world´s finest hotels, this hotel is up there. I could say that some of the rooms would be better of with some coulor changes, but that´s my personal view. The design in the lobby and bar is inspiring, and the drinks... This was by far one of the best hotel experiences I have had. We were in Berlin for a few days and hosted a meeting. Everything from the planning to execution of the meeting was fast, uncomplicated and just the way we expected it. Contract negotiation was a breeze. The hotel itself is pretty awesome, a former Dresdner Bank, and... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
