This hotel exceeded all of my expectations. The service was outstanding. Every employee we came in contact with, especially those at the Concierge Desk and in the restaurant, couldn't do enough for us. Our room was enormous by European standards, with very high ceilings and a luxurious bathroom. It overlooked a quiet courtyard and the Cathedral of St. Hedwig. The... More

I would not hesitate to recommend this superlative hotel. Not only is its off beat decoration, brilliant location and completely charming and helpful staff make your stay memorable, but you start the day with what must be one of the best breakfasts in Berlin!

First class experience with the team at Forte de Rome! All needs taken care of at a stylish and very comfortable hotel located in a prime location. Staff and hotel amazing with kids of all ages. The food/drinks in the bar, restaurant and rooftop terrace (great views) are top notch.

Stayed at the Hotel de Rome to have short ways to the museums. The good: location and the restaurant The bad: surrounded by construction sites (June 2015), interior looks like from the mid 90s (but was already back then outdated). Amenities, tv and light control are not up to international standard for a place that charges you 670 euros a... More

We chose this hotel for a visit in December because of its proximity to the 'best' Christmas market in Berlin. Since we only went to 5 of the 63(!) Xmas markets, i can't speak to whether the Gendarmenmarkt is the best, but it was pretty wonderful. And the hotel was, as well. And a 2 block walk from the market,... More

Have you ever visited a foreign country for your first time where the hotel made you feel so comfortable within the first moment walking through the door and you take that sigh of relief? This hotel does just that. We probably should have known as the communication between the reservations and the concierge weeks prior to our arrival was five-star.... More

Berlin is a truly wonderful city and the Hotel de Rome is a superb place to stay. In fact I would say that my experience there was quite possibly one of the best I have ever had in a city 5 star hotel. The rooms, restaurants and bars are excellent, the food also. However, what really makes this hotel special... More

The hotel was amazing. Every aspect was luxurious and the event staff was more than attentive. Many of my German friends had mentioned this was "one of the best hotel in Berlin" and it really was. Every detail was thought of, including a personal escort to my room upon check-in.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
