This was by far one of the best hotel experiences I have had. We were in Berlin for a few days and hosted a meeting. Everything from the planning to execution of the meeting was fast, uncomplicated and just the way we expected it. Contract negotiation was a breeze. The hotel itself is pretty awesome, a former Dresdner Bank, and... More

Centrally located within walking distance of museum island and other landmarks like Brandenburg Gate, this hotel should be easily one of the best in Germany. No aspect of this hotel had any mediocrity and the hotel generally had feel good factor Check-in/out was quick, rooms were really nice, interiors were mix of bold, bright and at the same time elegant... The front desk staff is very nice as well as the people at the door. The beds are like bricks. One very odd thing happened. They hang black plastic crows with wires around their necks to dispel pigeons. It looks very violent to see the birds madly swiinging. I spoke to a manager about it and he said he would... More

Stayed here on a 2 night get away with my brother, because we have never seen Berlin. Was recommended this hotel by a concierge service I use, and then found a write-up in WALLPAPER magazine's guide of Berlin. Lovely old bank, overlooking a square where the Nazis burnt books in WW2. Great location and we even learned how to use... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and loved the style and design of the lobby and bar area. The bedrooms themselves were less stylish but very comfortable and spacious with lovely big bathroom. The breakfast was delicious. Nice area and walking distance from Reichstag and lots of good restaurants and shops. Really enjoyed our stay here.

A very well located luxury hotel in the centre of Berlin, very conveniently located for major tourist attractions. Room was very well equipped, and very spacious. Large hall with many cupboards, large bathroom with walk in shower, and separate bath. Bedroom and desk / seating area. Service throughout was very good and attentive. Good selection for breakfast, and food generally... More

We were visiting Berlin for a few days and thought we'd give this hotel a try. From the moment you walk in you are in the hands of complete professionals. The check-in was warm, swift and personal. The room itself was very large, beautifully decorated and super chic. The bathroom also was bright and spacious with good toiletries and lots... More

Upon entering the hotel you are greeted by a fantastic arrangement of flowers- which during our stay, did change colour!. The service was first rate. The lobby and public areas aren't huge- but the Junior suite that we stayed in more than made up for this... I loved the colour theming. The doughnuts on arrival was a cute touch. The... More

When the children suggested a trip to Berlin, I was reluctant - until I discovered there was a Rocco Forte hotel slap bang in the middle of the Mitte district and a British Airways sale which made the whole break affordable. The public spaces in the hotel are glamorous and spacious and the swimming pool was a lovely treat after... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
