Stayed the weekend in Hotel de Rome - amazing hotel and very helpful staff throughout. Central location within walking distance of all the major tourist sights, shopping, restaurants and bars. Rooms are very plush with all amenities- room service is available for hot drinks (no kettle in room) and there is a mini-bar (not used). Bathrooms very spacious with shower... More

Extraordinary hotel with a magnificent staff and managment. The building is originally a bank which was modified to a top 5 star hotel. Location is the best with magnificent views of Berlin glory and architecture . The rooms are very luxurious with good size however the view differs from room to room. Staff are outstanding in all measures ( all... More

Stayed for 2 nights in November in a junior suite. It was a fabulous hotel, the main highlight for me was the breakfast buffet which is served until 2pm at weekends, with Prosecco on ice! The concierge were wonderful giving us tips on bus tours and having the tickets to buy there and arranging a half day bike tour there.

We chose Hotel de Rome for our 5night stay in Berlin this new years holiday because it was the most stylish hotel in the Mitte area and we also had every confidence in the Rocco Forte brand. And we were absolutely justified. Although it is situated in the centre of everything, within walking distance (3 to 5 min) from the... More

For my first trip to Berlin- I was confounded with where to stay- The Adlon for location and prestige or something funky and boutique-y? Perhaps one of the modern chains like the Waldorf or Ritz? I found the best of all worlds- the Hotel de Rome offers impeccable curated design housed within a grand historic Bank perfectly located in the... More

Just returned from a three night stay at the De Rome with my daughter, it was fantastic and they have set the bar at an extremely high standard. Stayed in a very spacious classic room overlooking the courtyard, very quiet, with not one but two bathrooms, four bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom was very modern, the shower was fantastic and... More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We had booked a deluxe room and they upgraded us to a junior suite as they had no deluxe rooms available - though didn't like the hard sell at checking in to upgrade to a large suite including better wifi , but seeing as they wanted almost 500 euros a night for... I stayed at the Hotel de Rome for three nights, and must say - it was a very pleasant stay. You enter into a large hall, perfectly styled with the attention to detail noticeable in all aspects of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, both at reception and at breakfast - no waiting times at all. The... More

This is a stylish, property furnished in a contemporary style (it is typically Rocco Forte so understated class is the norm). The building is an old bank and the hotel keeps its history whilst modernising well. The Spa is located in the old jewellery vaults and the pool is lovely with golden mosaic floor. The property is located just off... More

Hotel de Rome is a solemn construction of the former Dresdener Bank on the east side of Berlin. It still reflects that. The location is perfect. Right in the middle and at walking distance of the most interesting spots. For the shoppers, 5 min from Friedrichstrasse, 20min to Checkpoit Charly. Lot and lots off shops, malls at 5 min walk.... Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
