What can i say about Melia; apart from the fact that it was the best hotel choice that I have ever made during my travelling. Located on one of the main shopping streets in Berlin, it was the best spot. The main attractions: like the Bradenburg gate, checkpoint charlie, part of the berlin wall and the parliment were only a... More

My husband and I stayed here during a recent trip to Berlin. It was a bit of a gamble, as we paid for it as part of the secret rooms opportunity on Last Minute.com. We didn't know which hotel we were booking at the time of booking, but got a fantastic deal and we would probably stay here again. We... More

Melia Berlin good standard four star with nice tapas restaurant. We stayed for three nights. The hotel is located on Friederstrasse which on the same street as checkpoint Charlie and so long as you have good walking shoes can get to all the key historic sites. It is very close to museum island and the station is two minutes away... More

Just spent my 50th birthday here. Another excellent stay. If you can upgrade to the level I would recommend it. Stefan Heidrich was our host there and was superb! Nothing was too much trouble. Very central location which is handy for anywhere in Berlin really.

At least 50-70 nights/year I spend in hotel beds. The team of Melia Berlin topped my in all aspects positive stay by their friendliness and their appropriate anticipation of service needs. They obviously must have been trained in "how to read your guests mind to fulfill unspoken expectations". If the handling of luggage or the extra-tea, I felt treated with... More

My second time at the Melia. Very well located, comfortable and great breakfast. Lots of local restaurants and bars and all mayor landmarks within walking distance. We booked direct and benefited from 15 Euros per day to spend, in our case, on cocktails in the bar. I won't hesitate to book at the Melia again. Berlin is a great city... More

I can't really fault the hotel at all. The location is incredibly convenient - right next to Friedrichstrasse station, and 10 mins from all the sights. You could easily walk to Museum Island, the Reichstag/Brandenburg Gate, and Unter dem Linden. We stayed in an room overlooking the Spree, and we had no issues with noise from the station, traffic, or... More

Stayed here for a few days in December, it was a perfect location and the hotel was great. It's very much a business hotel and is typically impersonal yet professional but that suited us fine and we would definitely return. Only downside is the wifi which is dreadful.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
