We had a beautiful room decorated in warm welcoming tones facing the courtyard, which although not scenic makes your stay very quiet. We had the windows open at night and couldn't hear a thing except the occasional siren. The soundproofing to the corridor is also excellent so nothing disturbed our sleep. Breakfast was an excellent spread with loads of choice,... More

4 star hotel which demonstrates its rating exceptionally well. Check in was seamless with very polite and welcoming reception staff. Even though we arrived a few hours early reception offered us a room on the third floor or alternatively they would look after our luggage and we could return later in the day for the room I requested on the... A good quality centrally located hotel, there is not too much wrong with this hotel. Price wise a little on the upper end of what you would wish to pay for a weekend break. At the times we used the reception, staff were very efficient and professional but did lack the friendly touch which would have added to our stay.... More

Great location....20 minutes walk to the Brandenburg Gate and right on the River with lots of restaurants within a five minute walk. I definitely would return to this hotel. Had breakfast/lunch and dinner with my conference colleagues...the hotel food was excellent and the staff attentive and professional. It appears that the hotel has many tour guests.

Myself and husband are just back from a three day city break in the beautiful city of Berlin where we stayed in the excellent hotel Melia. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the courtyard so was very quiet and peaceful and for a city centre hotel the room was large, the bathroom was excellent with lovely toiletries, the... excellent location, and good value for money, fab breakfast with plenty of selection. We had a room overlooking the main street and bridge over river, but was not too noisy. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Booked a suite for three nights which gave us access to the level lounge. Better saving the additional cost and getting a carry out. Afternoon tea was just that - tea. Evening tapas poor but no limit on the drink. Staff in the level lounge overly attentive. Breakfast very poor with cold food. We ate in the main restaurant for... More

We had a nice stay in Melia which is situated very good. Hotel is nice, personnel very professional. Room facing to the yard was very quiet. Breakfast was good but the corridors are rather narrow, especially for elderly people. But the view out of the breakfast room is nice. Our extra wishes were regarded very well. Thank you!

Lovely position right on the river within walking distance of train station to link up with main line station. Comfortable spacious rooms. Fabulous breakfast with everything but really busy. It is a city hotel. Staff really friendly and lots of help with ideas of what to visit and how to get there. Couldn't ask for more. Easy walking to many... More

This hotel is close to two railway stations and the underground network. It is also convenient for sightseeing, shopping and fine dining. The staff are very helpful. We were situated on the 7th floor from where visitors have use of a cocktail bar in the early evening as well as a convenient dining area for breakfast on the same level.... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
