Great location - proximity to Friedrichstrasse and walkable to most of the sights; especially close to Museuminsel. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well furnished - a good size too. Rooms seem to be soundproofed too as I never heard a door, shower, TV or voices from either rooms next door or in the corridor. We ate in the restaurant... More

The hotel is quit modern and the bar and restaurant are reasonable. The breakfast buffet is the best I have ever had! The selections are extensive and the quality like wise. We received a special offer on the breakfast on arrival, so that is recommendable to take. Also you can order more exotic coffees from the staff when you are... More

Stayed here at the weekend. Booked it because of its location initially but was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly and ultra-helpful. One of the people in our group needed a wheelchair and when we asked at Reception where we might be able to get one, they provided one immediately.... More

Our room, on the 7th floor, was comfortable, clean and had great views. Fortunately we were on the lounge floor with access to the lounge which we used frequently. They do a lovely cocktail time and a very nice breakfast with your choice of fresh eggs. All day long there are snacks and cold drinks. And free WiFi. We also... More

It is hard to fault the hotel on location, or cleanliness. Check-in was very smooth, as was checkout. Great attention to detail - even including a shaving kit and a toothbrush kit in the room. But the hotel needs to get its act together on WiFi. One device per room on the vey limited "free" rate is totally inadequate -... More

Chosen for location and on previous experience. Check in, very efficient. Room had all amenities. Free WiFi was to be included. However this was for only one machine, per person, per day. Totally inadequate. In fact after one hour, we were requested to change to another system, that had to be purchased for 5 euros per day. Questioned this with... More

Lovely, European ambiance at the Melia, which is situated in the center of town on the Spree (our room overlooked the river) and within walking distance of so many sites (Museum Island, Brandenberg Gate, Holocaust Memorial, Haekscher Market, etc), a truly great shopping street and right near public transportation. Pretty, modern furnishings, clean, friendly staff. Would stay there again.

We arrived before midnight and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We really liked the room and the beds were comfortable. Everything was very clean and new. The air con worked perfectly and the bathroom had floor heating. The breakfast was great, huge selection of all kinds of food. If you are gluten intolerant or have celiac disease, they... More

This hotel was lovely and clean. The staff were very friendly and the concierge could help with any question. The rooms were large and very clean, and were cleaned everyday we stayed. This hotel is centrally located and within walking distance from all the major attractions and has lots of places to eat and drink close by as well as... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
