The Melia is really well situated to explore most of the older East and West German sights, but also only a short walk away from the train station to take one to destinations that are not that close by such as Charlottenburg and Kurfurstendam. Hotel staff are always friendly and helpful. Room were impeccably clean and spacious, featuring a stocked... More

This hotel is quite comparable to the Radisson Blu but I think I might like it better. My room was very comfortable. The bed was good for my bad back. The hotel is smaller than the Radisson Blu and feels more intimate. Staff was helpful. When I stayed there, transportation was disrupted by a half-marathon race. The desk person told... More

Stayed here for 4 nights, hotel very good, rooms are spacious and well equipped. Thought the breakfast was overpriced and there are plenty of places nearby which are much cheaper. The location was perfect with the underground and rail links within 100 yards of hotel. Would definitely stay here again

This hotel is in a good location, near to the train station and the river. It was within walking distance to most of the main sites and to get to the organised tours of the city. The hotel staff at reception were friendly and welcoming and had a great sense of humour. We checked in early but this was not... More

My partner and I spent 4 nights in Berlin and chose to stay at the Melia given it's trip advisor reviews and it's low cost. The hotel is obviously a large chain which focuses on budget and being able to support a large number of people at a time. It is appropriate for business travellers as well as the room... More

I have been staying in the Melia Hotel Berlin for this years ITB. It has, again, been a very pleasant. The staff in all departments, specially in The Level floor, have been very kind. The situation of the hotel has been also an important advantage.

I stayed one night at Melia Hotel in Berlin and this one was a very nice experience. Public transport, but also a number of attractions are all within walking distance! Thereby the hotel is located in a street with restaurants and some shops. The overnight stay with breakfast and dinner in the restaurant of Melia itself was just fantastic. The... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
