Absolutely the nastiest hostel I've ever seen after backpacking for 6 months. This place looks like it's straight from a scary movie. The hallways look like a rundown dirty hospital. The staff is pathetic and helpless. Upon arriving I was told I couldn't check in for 5 more hours but that I could put my bags in the luggage room... More

Me and my friends stayed here for about 4 days. The hostel is definitely the best! Super clean and organised and with such a sympathetic and helpful staff. It's just 7 minutes by walking from the underground and the bus station. Very nice atmosphere, bedrooms, bathrooms, and also a great security system. There are keys to have access to the... More

I stayed in a 4 bed female dorm.It is one of the cleanest, tidiest and more organised hostels ever. It is well located, just 7 minutes walking to the nearest subway, has lift and card keys. The bathrooms are clean and work well. The barmen Alex and Friedrich were amazing, they were really friendly and we spent a awesome time... More

I will give four stars because the price vs quality is a good deal. It's very basic hostel but cheap. Transportation to city center is fine and takes around 20 minutes. The staff sre very friendly. Breakfast buffet for 4 euros which is fine and can make you full! The only problem was the shower floor wasn't cleaned regularly and... More

Clean & big hostel around 700mt.away from underground metro. Large rooms and open buffet breakfast (5euro extra). Decent social area with kitchen, bar, ping pong etc. Average prices. Friendly staff. Free map & information at reception.

I stayed in Amstel House over the New Year. The staff were really friendly and fun - they had different events on every night, a nice little bar and plenty of seating to hang out and get to know the other guests. The breakfast was also really nice and cheap. The room itself was clean, comfortable and fairly spacious -... More

Very cheap, friendly staff but it was a bit far to travel to the central. Buffet breakfast and kitchen facilities were good. Bar had a good atmosphere at night time with karaoke and table tennis. Value for money.

I visited Amstel house during my staff in Berlin and liked it very much. The hotel is very large and acomodated large groups of a variety of travellers (families, backpackers, school groups ect). The hotel offered a complimentary breckfast within the main lobby and bar area which was bustling at night time. If you come here in the winter, the... More

Staying in Moabit

Neighborhood Profile
Moabit
You may not realize Moabit is one of the city’s most central neighborhoods when you arrive at Hauptbahnhof (central station). Surrounded by waterways, Moabit is a quiet island protected from the hustle and bustle of Berlin. The crowds that do gather prefer spending their evenings in cozy restaurants over the party venues offered by other districts. With its beautiful parks, old housing and romantic industrial areas, life has traditionally been relaxed and a bit slower here. But the tone may soon be changing. Reasonable housing costs and proximity to city center are attracting more young Berliners and international visitors. This interest is encouraging new bars, cafés and nightclubs, making Moabit a candidate for most up-and-coming neighborhood in the city.
