I loved Amstel house. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean with comfy beds. Has a very cosy atmosphere... Big enough to meet lots of people but not so big that it's really crammed and noisy. Nice little bar and beer garden. Would definitely recommend if you are heading to Berlin!

Absolutely great hostel! Staff were fantastic and friendly. Free walking tour of Berlin was brilliant. Cheap drinks and loads of friendly faces. Only downfall was maybe that there was no wifi in the rooms but that forced you to come down to the common area where you'd just meet people and have a good time! All in all a great... More

This hostel was really friendly and nice. Because there is no wi-fi in the rooms, only in the common area it meant there was always a nice busy atmosphere downstairs. We stayed in quite a large dorm and found the room was spacious enough, clean and comfortable with good large lockers. There were plenty of showers and toilets (some unisex)... More

amstell house is a pretty chill place, the staff were lovely and the downstairs area is great for making friends and having a drink. however we didn't get a good nights sleep on any of the days. fire alarms, fights outside and the police being called regularly meant for a couple of very restless nights. the quiet after 10 pm... I liked the hostel. It's mostly young adult oriented. I was actually greeted by a drunk staff member, but he was not the only staff member there, so I guess it's not that bad ^_^ They lock the hotel doors at night for security reasons. The bunk beds felt clean, they gave clean bed sheets for them. The bathrooms were... More

My stay in Amstel House hostel was nothing but positive. The room was clean, with sink and lockers in it, staff downstairs (front desk and bar) helpful, nice and friendly, and the place is on a nice location - well connected to the city center and just my the local market where I got myself some fruits for the breakfast,... Thins have changed since the days when I travelled as a college student.Despite what me recent reviewer said, Amstel House is not frightening. It's clean but spartan, has a decent breakfast (extra charge), helpful staff, and a 24/7 bar, I can't imagine what the other reviewer was comparing. The Plaza, maybe? it's well located, close to a U- bahn station,... More

Absolutely the nastiest hostel I've ever seen after backpacking for 6 months. This place looks like it's straight from a scary movie. The hallways look like a rundown dirty hospital. The staff is pathetic and helpless. Upon arriving I was told I couldn't check in for 5 more hours but that I could put my bags in the luggage room... More

Me and my friends stayed here for about 4 days. The hostel is definitely the best! Super clean and organised and with such a sympathetic and helpful staff. It's just 7 minutes by walking from the underground and the bus station. Very nice atmosphere, bedrooms, bathrooms, and also a great security system. There are keys to have access to the... More

I stayed in a 4 bed female dorm.It is one of the cleanest, tidiest and more organised hostels ever. It is well located, just 7 minutes walking to the nearest subway, has lift and card keys. The bathrooms are clean and work well. The barmen Alex and Friedrich were amazing, they were really friendly and we spent a awesome time... More

Staying in Moabit

Neighborhood Profile
Moabit
You may not realize Moabit is one of the city’s most central neighborhoods when you arrive at Hauptbahnhof (central station). Surrounded by waterways, Moabit is a quiet island protected from the hustle and bustle of Berlin. The crowds that do gather prefer spending their evenings in cozy restaurants over the party venues offered by other districts. With its beautiful parks, old housing and romantic industrial areas, life has traditionally been relaxed and a bit slower here. But the tone may soon be changing. Reasonable housing costs and proximity to city center are attracting more young Berliners and international visitors. This interest is encouraging new bars, cafés and nightclubs, making Moabit a candidate for most up-and-coming neighborhood in the city.
