We went to berlin to see a musical on saturday and to do sightseeing and stuff all around the city. I selected the Amstel hostel coincidentally. It was one of the first hostels I found via Google.de and it gave me a clear overview about the prices. The Location was also close to our other activities, so I chose to... more

This is an excellent hostel and it is brilliant value for money! The rooms were clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful and probably the only thing that was lacking was homeliness, but I don't think you can expect that from a big hostel!! Thumbs up from me. : ) more

I've been trying to talk my american friend into hosteling for a quite a while, but she's always had hangups about security, cleanliness, and accommodations. I finally talked her into it when I booked this hostel, which offered private rooms for less than 20 euro a person, but was still within 10 minutes of zoologischer garten. I'd recommend this place... more

I have found Amstel on the internet and it was a very good choice:). I enjoyed atmosphere of typical HOSTEL connected with high level of cleaning and nice and very helpful staff. On the evenings it is possible to seat in the hostel bar and have a nice Berliner with crisps and then maybe bartender is sharing some Jagermeier:) more

It was great for a hostel. The lobby was very nice (with free wireless), the staff were amazing (spoke english), breakfast was included (got boring after a week though), the rooms were decent. It was in a great neighborhood, close to the subway, and I have no complaints. more

I have stayed at Amstel House twice with my German class. It had improved a lot in a year from my first visit to my latest. We stayed in rooms with 4 beds and we used the communal showers and toilets, obviously not luxury! On my first visit the facilities were old and a bit shabby but now the bathrooms... more
