We rented a 3 bedroom apartment in this complex in Feb 2015. Because Berlin is very spread out it's difficult to know where to stay - we picked this as it was close to the underground (1 min to Kochstasse on Friedrichstrasse) and was next to a well known landmark - Checkpoint Charlie. The apartment was extremely spacious - a... More

Five girls enjoyed our stay at the apartments. Basic and clean. Fridge Freezer, kettle, toaster and microwave. Also a hairdryer and iron in apartment. We were on the third floor apartment 4. Room had a balcony which I didn't expect. Handy for transport, restaurants and Lidls 5 minute walk. Would definitely revisit Berlin as lots more to see and would... More

I booked an apartment at Checkpoint Charlie through booking.com for the Berlin marathon this year in September. The terms of the booking were that I would pay on arrival. Checkpoint Charlie proceeded to take payment of €1000 from my credit card, taking me over my credit limit (due to the very unexpected large amount coming out around Christmas time) and... More

I made a booking with Bookings.com for the Berlin Marathon in September 2015. The price I booked for was around £320. A few days later the results of the Berlin Marathon ballot came out, and they clearly had a run on booking requests. I received an email saying that my booking was cancelled as my card registered with Bookings.com could... More

Literally a stones throw from Checkpoint Charlie, the nearest underground is Kochstrasse. The entrance to the apartments is right next to Dominos Pizza on Kochstrasse. However to get to the office go through the black metal gate, the office is on the ground floor round the back and not signposted. There is a lift to get to the apartments on... More

positives: Male housekeeper at least made an effort to resolve complaints about not working Wifi, not sufficient cleanliness, falling courtains and warm water (which was not available the entire stay) - Apartment was spacious and safety was well taken care of negatives: no warm water in the shower the entire 3 days, even after several promises to fix it. -... Very nice and spacious apartment, nicely furnished and clean, but very difficult to find. The office is located next to the pizza place on the left hand side, but it would help if they had a prominent sign outside. Otherwise very central and just around the corner from the hop-on-hop-off buses.

Just got back from Berlin and I have to say we were really happy with our appartment, it was much bigger than we thought. We were on the 7th floor so didn't experience any noise except general city noise if the windows were open; just a note on the windows if you stay on the 7th floor and have kids,... More

This place is under going heavy renovations and you can forget about sleeping in or relaxing during your stay. Jack hammering all day long during the week and Saturdays. No more privacy on your patio, the construction company cut a strip out of all the hedges dividing the units and installed capped off wells for removing water while under construction.... More

A well placed apartment right in the heart of Berlin - value for money. The building and its interiors are quite run down but clean and everything worked. The pictures on the website are a little misleading - no prints or pictures on the walls and they don't show that the curtains are thin and don't meet! With a bit... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
