Overall this hostel is OK, I stayed in a private 2 bed room with shared bathroom. The bedroom was clean although a bit shabby, but the bathrooms were not so clean. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was a bit lame - I didn't fancy the buffet much so went for a cooked breakfast which turned out to be a pretty... More

Loved this place! A great place to stay in, right infant of the train station! The staff were friendly and the bar was great! The rooms were average through and the bathrooms were communal. There's only 1 lift and it's quite slow and small so rooms on the first floor are easier to get to. The place was quite hard... More

Stayed for three nights. Friendly staff, clean and well sized bed. In the 12 bed dorm that I stayed in, each person had their own locker under the bed and own electric plugs on the head board, brilliant!

Stayed here as two friends interrailing for 4 nights in August. Stayed in a 6 bed mixed dorm which was spacious and secure with locked doors. Good location, as everything is walkable/easily accessible by metro. Bar downstairs was very lively and couldn't be heard from the room. Bathrooms/toilets were fine. Nothing special but also pretty clean. Considering it was a... More

It was perfect. Everything we needed was there. Quiet comfortable sleeping area, affordable food and drink in Belluchi's downstairs, a U-Bahn stop directly in front of the entrance, lively and friendly atmosphere-we made different friends every night to explore the city with. The staff were cool as well, particularly the Dutch receptionists and the Aussie barmen!

I have been with 2 friend in this hostel in March 2015, for 5 nights and the experience has been very positive. The staff is very kind and professional, but friendly too. The Belushi bar in it is a gem. The area is perfectly connected with the 'Stadtzentrum', considering that 4 meters in front of the hostel there is the... More

We went with college- A crazy amount of students but we all fit in and the hostel workers were very friendly. The food is great and the prices are just as good at the hostel. We are art students, the hostel is right beside the trains too which was excellent for our travels around the city and to lots of... More

Friendly staff and good location with access to public transport or only a 30 minute walk away from Brandenburg Gates. Hostel has it's own bar and serves food which is reasonably priced with an extra 25% discount for guests too, we had burgers which were delicious! Rooms were spacious and clean (our door room even had double bunks!), showers were... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
