This hotel is superb value and in a great location - close to the U-Bhan and 100m from Checkpoint Charlie where the city sightseeing buses stop. The reception is excellent as were the rooms. Highly recommended for budget conscious visitors to this exciting city.

Amazingly quiet hotel in a great location. Don't be fooled by the beautiful old exterior, it's quite corporate inside but very clean and comfortable. Good room service and what I ate was tasty. Ideal for a few days.

First, the key-point: About 200m from Checkpoint Charlie and Kochstraße Subway station. Then, the room.Although we were in the 1st floor (room 113) and our view was... limited (our window looked in an alley, and we could hardly see the sky) the comfort of the room made this seem nothing to bother. Nevertheless, we were two buddies, so, nor need... More

We spent four nights in the room no 314. When you enter the room through the very impressive beautiful door you find it very spacious and bright and clean. And a comfortable balcony too. The room is very quiet. The breakfast is versatile. The shape of the dining room is a little unpractical being very narrow and long. All the... More

Stayed there with a friend when traveling to Berlin for 3 days. We didn't like the front desk attention, restaurant breakfast buffet price (almost 16€ for a few scrambled eggs and cheese), low light in the room, room's phone didn't work (they never fixed it), we had to ask for towels since they forgot to put some in the room,... This is plagiarised from another recent review - and I agree with 90% of it... We booked this hotel as part of a British Airways city break. The offer was 5 nights B&B for the price of 4, which made it great value. Overall, we were pleased with our choice. The location is excellent - right next to the underground... More

First the location of hotel is near to Check Point Charlie, 5 minutes from the Gendenmarkt area and 10 minutes’ walk to Unten den Linden. From the Berlin Tegel Airport the easiest way to the Hotel we found is the 128 bus to Kust-Schumacher Platz to catch the U-Bahn underground train to Kochstr/Checkpoint Charlie U-Bahn(13 stops) and then a short... We were a family of 4 and we stayed here for 7 nights. We read some poor reviews on trip advisor so we didn't know what to expect. Good thing is we like to experience things firsthand instead of listening to others and we're not picky so we absolutely enjoyed our stay! Everything was great, the room was cleaned EVERY... More

Stayed here for 3 nights and wasn't disappointed, helpful staff and rooms were clean and comfortable, underfloor heating in bathroom was a bonus, wide variety at breakfast, gets a little crowded at weekends, free wi fi was handy, only a 5 minute walk to Checkpoint Charlie and around a 20 minute walk to the East Side Gallery, would definitely recommend... This hotel was horrible. The service, the hard beds, the shower soaking the whole floor, the gym equipment was not cleaned properly, the internet connection and the simple things that shouldnt matter when youre on holidays.....became so complicated from staying here. The location however is fantastic!! Its so close the the stations, Checkpoint Charlie and other great landmarks are a short... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
