This hotel is clean, nicely kept with friendly staff. The rooms bring back memories to the former Eastern part of Berlin in a very charming way. Due to a lack of charm this is not a place to go if you're planning a romantic get-away or if you're looking for ambiance. However, if is great if you're out most of... More

In the heart of the city good price via booking com Clean room, good isolated from noise. I fell in the bathroom as it slips and the tube's glass is moving? A bit old design at the lobby. Bed is so soft that could leave a pain in the morning There's no shampoo ect in the bathroom other than a... More

We stayed at The Gold Inn Angleterre for a 5 day city break to Berlin and as a base to explore this large city on a budget, this hotel is a great choice. The nearest underground station is a two minute walk from the Hotel. I agree with some earlier comments saying the "corporate" feel, but the entrance is clean,... More

Located 50 metres from a metro station and close to checkpoint charlie, the hotel is easily accessible whilst not being on a street with a large footfall. The hotel was clean, spacious and comfortable. Beds were comfy. Bathroom was a fair size and contained a good bath and shower. Breakfast choice was excellent and the waiters were pleasant. Didn't use... More

Whilst close to Checkpoint Charlie, not a lot going on nearby. Hotel service indifferent, breakfast quality was good one day, poor the day after. Room was clean, tidy and well appointed and, quiet. the bed was very comfortable. Whilst the shower room was a wet room, the shower unit itself was very basic, shame to go to all that effort... I stayed here for a week in June 2015. The hotel has an old facade but most of the rooms are in a modern square behind the facade. This makes them both quiet and airy. The location is excellent about 100m from Checkpoint Charlie and so in easy walking distance of all the shops and sights in the Mitte (middle).... More

This hotel bills itself as a 4 star hotel but it doesn't have that feel. The breakfast was poor but expensive so we chose to eat out after the first day. The gym was very poor comprising a small selection of free weights. The Kettler machines did not appear to be in working order. The room was small but adequate... More

Spent 4 nights at The Angleterre. It is in a great location, only 50 metres from the U bahn station Kochstr. The hotel e mailed me the easiest route by train from Schonefeld airport. It was easy and so much cheaper than a taxi. We had a problem with a cancelled train on our return but a lovely German lady... More

Beautiful, spacious rooms (bed room plus living room, walk-in wardrobe, free wifi) great breakfast and location. In case you can only sleep in the dark, a bit difficult as the curtains do not allow to darken the room and you will wake up with sunset.

accomodation was good, rooms are clean ent tidy, breakfest is more then ok. but the restaurant is perhaps a but too small. the matrasses are way too soft. near by the U-bahn check point charlie. so that's very easy. (check point charlie-museum really needs an upgrade. it could and should be much better.)

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
