4 star hotel and certainly well deserved, Location was excellent, 50 metres from the underground and 5 minute walk to checkpoint charlie, The hotel it self is a beautiful clean well run establishment steeped in history, Breakfast was plentiful with a great range of choices to suit any palatte, Rooms were spotless and all areas of the hotel are kept... We have just returned from spending our 47th wedding anniversary here. The hotel was recommended to us by friends and we were not disappointed. It was of a very good standard with very helpful staff and is ideally located on Friedrichstrasse which is a long road just 200 metres from Checkpoint Charlie, a major tourist attaction. It is also a... More

Great location very near the history of Berlin . The checkpoint charlie is a place to visit. Good international breakfast . Good rooms. Ci vorrebbe un restayling degli spazi comuni che meritano maggiore attenzione estetica.

A friend and I stayed at this hotel for a weekend trip to Berlin. We had a wonderful time there - the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was a generous size, and the buffet breakfast was fantastic! And best of all, the location is so convenient for sight-seeing in Berlin, being steps away from Checkpoint Charlie and access... More

I stayed for 1 week, in room 814. Stayed alone. Being on the top floor, and from what it seemed like an extension of the original building, it was a bit cold in the room especially near the windows but the heating system (ceiling ventilation) did the job. The room had roof windows, 7 segments, 4 openable. Housekeeping did a... More

This was a lovely Hotel, in a perfect location. Staff very friendly. We had breakfast which very good and plenty of choice. It was very near Check Pont Charlie and not far from many other interesting sites of interest. Would definitely stay here again.

What a great place to stay. Close to the transport system. Rooms were a good size, clean and warm. Housekeeping couldn't be faulted. Breakfast plenty of it and quality very good, except the bacon is cooked too much but that is a personal taste. Bar is cosy but a lovely place to have a beer. Staff on front desk were... More

A good hotel, with nice service, our room was large and comfortable, clean and tidy. Little mini-bar, with the usual drinks and snacks. The hotel breakfasts were very good, a selection of all you could need, cheeses, cold meats, eggs, bacon, sausages. Lots of cereals, and fruit, and a nice selection of rolls, croissants, danish pastries and breads. The hotel... More

Super central location right beside checkpoint Charlie And comfortable room-the old man at the desk really needed to return to charm school. With his handle bar moustache he had a most Germanic sneer and not what you would expect at the reception/concierge desk! Breakfast a basic continental style...with a most ride red haired waitress who seemed to forget she was... More

Stayed during a cold snap in February so pleased that everywhere was warm. Our room on the second floor was perfectly adequate, clean, beds had white linen and there was plenty of storage space. It was also quiet as it looked into an inner courtyard. The road outside, though a main road was never very busy so rooms looking that... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
