My wife was to show me Berlin, and a friend recommended Sunflower Hostel in the old East Berlin neighborhoo of Friedrichshain. It was quite easy to find, six or seven stops S-bahn stops and a five minute walk from Berlin Hbf. The reception upon arrival was kind and helpful. No complaints there. The next evening when we came back from... More

Thank you very much for your feedback which is always very welcome, as we always try to improve our service. We are terribly sorry for your bad experience with one of our receptionists. It would be a great help if you could tell us when exactly this incident happened, so we can figure out who it was. We always try... More

Was recommended this hostel by a friend. And I admit, he's five years younger than me, and maybe that made all the difference: Pros: Clean Cheap breakfast, only 3 euros and quite a nice breakfast. Close to warschauer str. Station. If you're in your 20's and what to party all night, this is the place to be. Cons: Slow wifi.... More

Only stayed for one night, but had a very sociable atmosphere, with a great location very close to a major train station, and the East Side Gallery berlin wall! Would revisit! Great pricing too. Great for lone and group travelling. Free use of internet too!

Stayed here for 2 nights with friends. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Clean and cheap. Definitely worth the money. The location is great, lots of bars and affordable restaurants nearby. If you travel alone, this is probably a good place to meet new people.

Berlin is the place to party and this hostel is perfect for it. The bar is buzzing and great to meet people at or chat with the awesome staff, the longterms are some of greatest people you'll ever meet. The hostel is in a perfect location with Berghain literally down the end of the street and east side gallery a... More

This is one of the friendliest Hostels I have ever stayed in. The location is superb if you are aiming to explore Friedrichsheim, just 3 minutes walking away from Warschauer Strasse. The rooms are quite big, clean and the beds quite comfortable. And a Bar open 24 hours with very cheap prices... just great. Do not expect something lavish for... More

Lovely hostel. Friendly staff - especially the night staff. Comfortable beds and crisply clean bedding. Our room had Egyptian murals and a little balcony. If I went to stay again I think I'd pay a bit extra to have a bathroom in the room. The shower rooms had no privacy. They were a bit like being back in a school... More

Had a wonderful stay at this hostel - I came as part of a group of five friends, all of us teenage women on holiday looking to have a good time and meet plenty of like-minded travellers. The location: conveniently close to Warschauer St station (just one S-Bahn stop away from Ostbahnhof), well-lit and full of fun bars and clubs... More

I stayed in an 8 person dorm, but the way the room was set up where it felt very private, which is great! Pros: Clean hostel Huge rooms Fairly comfortable bed Good price Good location Cons: Bad wifi anywhere but common room. Staff was OK. Not mean but not helpful either. No free breakfast & it's €3 for some toast... More

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
