The beds and showers are ok, There's not wifi in the rooms just in the ground floor, no free breakfast , the hostel is near to the metro, and it's really easy to get to the centre of berlin, the bar and food is great , I would stay here for my next visit ..

Service is very good; reception staff are so friendly and welcoming. They give you all the info you need about getting around in Berlin and how to reach most places. BF is reasonably cheap and quite varied too. It’s certainly better to have BF at the hostel than nearby. They also sell some snacks, food and drinks at very good... More

The hostel is situated near train and tram stations. It's simple, clean, nothing extraordinary - but this is what you expect for that price. The room was ok, the bathroom as well. Nice place for few days stay.

The hostel is localized far away from the touristic downtown of Berlin but there´s a tram station nearby. But you can walk until East Side Gallery. The bedrooms are ok. There are lockers not too strong and safe. WiFi doesn´t work in bedrooms and doesn´t work so well in hall of the hostel. Bathrooms are not so clean but it´s... More

We were looking for a cheap hostel in Berlin for one night. So the cheapest option we found was Generator, and we decided to book three places in the 8-person room (we didn't expect any luxury things, just a place to sleep and take a shower in the morning). So if you need the same, then this hostel is a... More

Enjoyed my stay at the generator hostel! - free parking - awesome bar in the hostel, real cool to chillout a bit before going out. - friendly staff, just every person working in this hostel was friendly and helpful. - rooms are small, but why do you need the big room when you have so many places to go around... Cleaners did a a great job cleaning rooms and bathrooms. It was always clean. Amazing value for money and hotel is right next to the train station. Suitable for everyone. Washing facilities... More

The generator was our first stop of 5 in Europe and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff are very nice and really try to help you, even with my phone that wasn't working. Rooms are small but nice and warm. The bar was n let down, not much of a vibe going on, but the staff try. I think we... More

Dear Rouxlene G, Many thanks for posting your review. Your did indeed stay in a quiet period which does mean that the bar is quiet too. We are however going to work on our bar concept this year, away from the clubbing as there are so many great clubs in Berlin, a more loungy feel would work better for your... More

I stayed ther overnight on a busy Friday and stayed in a six-bedroom girl dorm. The design details of the room, the facilities and the cupboard space included by default in the price are very good not only for value for money- wise but objectively. A colourful crowd goes around in the very elegant shared spaces. Felt safe whatsoever. Only... More

We had booked in as a large group for a stag do. There was a bit of an issue when we first got there as the site we had booked through had shown us as having 3 8 person rooms which the hostel doesn't actually have. The staff were friendly and apologetic and sorted it out quickly. The hostel is... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
