I was with a friend and we really liked the hostel. It´s a huge place, the rooms are good, clean and cozy, the breakfast is amazing and the location is great. I think is a good place to go with friends.

Really big, but excellent hostel. Cheap, clean, just next to the train station. Great service, snacks at reception to buy available or in cafeteria. Bathrooms are clean and the rooms sometimes. Very good beds and clean bed sheets. The floor wasn t really clean in the room I stayed in.

I stayed at the Generator a first time in Copenhagen and thus was expecting the same thing for this one. Turns on that the hostel is not at all in a lovely or lively area of Berlin and is right next to the Landsberg Allee train station. It's pretty big with a cool design and nice rooms (we stayed with... More

The staff is very adorable, kind and helpful, the romms are ok, but my window was broken (and winters in Berlin are very old!!), plus my room was in front of a train/tram station... and someone arrived in the room in the middle of the night saying that there was a problem with one of the bed's reservation.... The bathrooms... More

Have stayed at multiple generator hostels in both London & Copenhagen, so I didnt have to hesitate to book when visiting berlin. Although I did find the shower/toilet "ensuite" to be quite cramped, but other than that I enjoyed my stay. Any other issues I may have had were forgotten about once I stepped foot into the bar, me and... More

The Hostel is really good, I did enjoy my stay. The Price for the Hostel was good and worth the money. Helpful staff, good Breakfast & Very Good WiFi and really strong. The location is 10 Minutes by Tram to the City Center, and near the Hostel there's many restaurants and very close Super market.

If you are traveling alone or with some friends, generator hostel is a good option for you. Maybe the price is not so cheap but the quality of the place is nice. I paid €50 per 3 nights and buffet breakfast included. Also they are located in a good area.

If you are traveling on a budget sometimes is best to spend few bucks to be closer to town in order not to rely on public transportations specially if they are costly, as they are, in Berlin. Also, I heard highly of the Generator and found the staff very dismissive and unhelpful. I have an iPhone 4 and their wifi... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
