The generator was our first stop of 5 in Europe and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff are very nice and really try to help you, even with my phone that wasn't working. Rooms are small but nice and warm. The bar was n let down, not much of a vibe going on, but the staff try. I think we... More

I stayed ther overnight on a busy Friday and stayed in a six-bedroom girl dorm. The design details of the room, the facilities and the cupboard space included by default in the price are very good not only for value for money- wise but objectively. A colourful crowd goes around in the very elegant shared spaces. Felt safe whatsoever. Only... More

We had booked in as a large group for a stag do. There was a bit of an issue when we first got there as the site we had booked through had shown us as having 3 8 person rooms which the hostel doesn't actually have. The staff were friendly and apologetic and sorted it out quickly. The hostel is... More

Me and a friend stayed here for two nights whilst visiting friends who live in Berlin. We booked the hostel very late due to change in plans and therefore paid a little extra as it was high season and rooms were filling up. The hostel location is questionable. it is close to the town centre and the trams serving the... More

Great lads holiday to Berlin in January 2010. 3 of us came and to the hostel we went. A bit out of town but the metro is very close. The beds were comfy enough and the number of rooms are countless. For a hostel the facilities were up to scratch and the bathroom/showers were in good working & clean order.... More

A friend booked the accommodation and I must admit I feared what I was going to when I was told it was a £15 a night hostel... Pleasantly surprised though, first impressions was the place was clean but the room a little small, but we were just needing it for somewhere to sleep between sight seeing and partying! Breakfast was... More

This hotel is very easy accessible to Berlin Metro S line, Apart from that i do not see any good reason to stay here. First of all there is no internet apart from some are in the ground floor. I have taken twin 2 private with bath room, the room was pathetic and very congested and room heating system was... More

Dear PKumarNagaraju, Thank you very much for reviewing our hostel. We fully agree that the Wi-fi currently available to our guests is not acceptable and will be installing a new system in January. With regards to the kitchen, we are currently changing all the signage with regards to the kitchen as you correctly say that this should refer to a... More

Don't let the word hostel put you off ! This place is clean, tidy, modern and well staffed. Great choice for breakfast , well stocked cheap bar. For groups or party to Berlin , this place can't be beat. Rooms very clean. The Only down side is that rooms are very small

It was my mistake, should have spent a couple of more bucks as this is an old style gigantic hostel without any quiet space. When you're young and wanna party, this is the place as it's full with people alike. I found the bathrooms well dated and far from clean, little privay and small.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
