First off, we arrive at check in-time (14.00) but the room isn't ready until 1,5 hour later. We had to sit in the lobby and wait - and then wait in the big line for 20 more minutes. Then we decide to grab something to eat at 21.00, because the restaurant closes at 22.00 according to all the signs in... More

Honestly the hostel was OK, but they definitely catered more specifically towards very large groups. I ordered just some fries as a snack one evening, and it took 45 minutes to come, I had to remind the chef as he forgot about my order as two big groups of pre booked meals came through. Room was fine, but the bathrooms... More

We came here as a group of 4 friends for a 5 day city break and were pleased with out choice of hostel. The location literally couldn't be closer to the S bahn station where it takes about 20 minutes to get to the centre and is really easy to get to anywhere! The staff at the reception are friendly... I stayed in the Generator in Berlin with a group of friends for a night. This was my first time staying at a hostel so I wasn't sure what to expect. The rooms were simple and clean so I was pleasantly surprised. The service was also impeccable. However, the downfall was the sink in the room didn't work, although we... More

The hostel was clean and right next to a tram line that took you into the centre within 5 minutes which was quite good, and a nice beer garden but a few problems- bar opening hours advertised as 5pm-2am with happy hour 5-7 but it didn't even open until late on in the evening and shut at 12. No one... More

As far as hostels go this one is a cracker. Does everything you would expect. There are a lot of rooms and a small reception so be prepared to wait at busy times but the wifi is decent and password free. There is a bar that does promos and decent food along with numerous bars, shops, restaurants and Burger King... More

Cleanliness is little affected by the shower heads that were broken, I can imagine that if there were more people to shower, you don't want to do it with a broken shower head. However, the facilities were cleaned every day (as noted on the scheme at the door, kudo's for that!). The sleep quality is little affected by the noisy... More

Its rare and nearly impossible to see a city that hold a turbulent past with a bright and hopeful future. Rising and falling and rising again as a city is a distinction very few cities can boast, and all the while bold enough not swiping away that turbulent past but facing it front on. May be this could be the... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
