The hostel experience turned into an industrial style concept. This place is massive, long corridor after long corridor and rows of rooms. It has absolutely no personality or charm of any kind. Incidentally, the same exactly can be said about the surrounding area. It looks like its central but it is far away form any of the places you actually... More

The hostel is really cheap and very central, so those things are a bonus. But the place is a little rundown (perfectly clean though) and the lounge areas are small. There's no bar or restaurant or any kind of communal feel - it just has a very functional atmosphere to it, so it's really just a place to sleep and... More

Conveniently located though it seems to be kind of a weird area in terms of being slightly on the rougher side. Not so much that I ever felt unsafe, but it's not my ideal. The whole place has a kind of dingy feel to it - not necessarily unclean, but still unpleasant. The staff wasn't rude, but I wouldn't say... More

The rooms were a large size and the beds very comfy! The showers and toilet facilities were very good although the showers went cold quite often. Wifi was okay. Location was great, just round the corner to Checkpoint Charlie which is an easy spot to find using the tubes!

This is a cheap hostel but we had a great stay. The beds were comfy, the staff are helpful, the rooms were light and very clean. It has a great location - we walked to all the sights most of which are less than 20 minutes. It is near a very cheap Lidl and a great bakery. We also only... More

Lacking in character. Shower facilities were dirty, having at one stage a dead spider fall on me from the shower curtain. The location was useful as it was close to check point Charlie and other attractions. The kitchen not very hygienic with an over packed fridge filled with weeks worth of previous travellers' food and ants running rife . Staff... More

First of all, the receptionist was very rude to me on several occasions, for no exact reason. I never did anything wrong, so I don't understand why he would speak to me in such a tone. There's a kitchen and a lounge room at the hostel, which I first thought was cool, as you can cook in the kitchen and... More

The hostel is located centrally in Berlin, not far away from sights and easy to get to. That is the most positive I can write. The room was not really suited as a hostel, because of poor capacity and the bathroom had a very odd smell. The staff is generally without service genes and one was even rude and unpleasant.... I was in a private room for two people, it was an excellent room, very clean, the bathroom functional and very nice. Big windows for natural light. Looked like a hotel, the staff was great and it was perfectly located near an U-Bahn station.

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
