The apartment is in a Communist-esk tower block in Mitte. A fantastic location, close to the museum island, restaurants and transport links. The room is a concrete square and sparsely furnished but there is everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The room was clean and comfortable, with a fantastic view. As this is a private rented apartment you are... More

The Safari apartment is in the back of a block which is very quiet and private. The neighbourhood is very nice on one side but less 'attractive' on the other side.. There are many little restaurants, bars and shops and also public transport close to the apartment. The apartment is fully equiped with a nice bedroom, bathroom with bath and... More

Marlene is a beautiful room with beautiful view of Berlin. We stayed for 4 nights and completely happy with this apartment, it's surrounded by trendy shop & restaurant and just a few step to the meeting point for many tour operators (Hackescher Markt). I agree with the shower curtain needs to be modified so that the water wouldn't splash the... More

We stayed in the Marlene Room in The Loft for 4 days in September 2012. Not only was the room clean and comfy, but Sam and Mel were wonderful to us. Let me explain...It is an apartment building without a doorman and requires keys to gain entry. They helped us coordinate our arrival with Eric and Rocio. Our flight from... More

My girlfriend and I stayed in Isabelle and we reminded of a Manhattan style studio apartment. It was sparse, cool and petite but everything that we needed was there. Close to the Kreuzberg nightlife I would definitely return. The only reason I didn't grade Excellent was because the shower curtain was a bit annoying and we kept soaking the floor!... More

From the beginning, I was a bit skeptical about choosing Berlin cribs only because the lack of information and reviews online. I am a huge researcher and this was very important to me but it just looked and sounded so awesome, I just went with it and boy, was I glad I did! A few days before I was contacted... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
