Stayed here for 4 nights over the New Year and I couldn't fault the hotel at all. The staff were friendly, the location was great and the rooms were cleaned daily. We will definitely be staying here when we return to Berlin. Danke!

Situated in the old eastern part, great neighbourhood if you like city quarters in transition: a mix of renovated or new buildings where art galleries start putting down their roots and not-yet-modernised buildings where colourfully painted doors and windows give you an idea of the more bohemian kind of inhabitants living there. The hotel itself is neatly refurbished respecting the... More

This pretty hotel is located in the central section of Berlin one and a half blocks from Freidrichstrasse and the Orianenburg Tor U-Bahn station. It's a short walk to Unter de Linden and the Brandenburg Gate. Located in a quiet neighborhood, the hotel is very clean and has nice rooms with views of the inner courtyard or the street. The... Dear Mark L. Thank you very much for the amiable review and the time you spend writing it! I am delighted you noticed the marvelously quiet position of our hotel even though it is very centrally located: Like you said, it only takes a few minutes to get to the important sights of Berlin. With pleasure, I will pass on... More

Nice large, very comfortable, clean rooms with a quiet location but still allowing for easy access to the tram and the central train station. Very friendly, helpful staff that speak very good English. Breakfast is extra, but is a very nice spread with lots of choices. The neighborhood feels very safe to explore even at night. Many choices for restaurants... More

"You don't have to be an Augustine monk to appreciate the stillness at Hotel Augustinenhof" I was a guest during the heat wave, so at 99 degrees Farenheit, there was no air conditioning and the hotel fan brought to my room after i requested it was okay but not the perfect solution. But such was the case with nearly all... More

Dear Bryan, it was a pleasure to read your sophisticated review of our Hotel. Thank you so much for taking the time to write it. I will pass along your kind words to our service team. I have to agree with you. The heat wave of August 2015 took us all by surprise! Even though our hotel doesn’t heat up... More

Augustinenhof is in what was East Berlin and within easy walking distance of Museum Island and all the that remains, or is being rebuilt, of the former Prussian capital. It is quiet and comfortable. There are no frills but the rooms on the lower floors are spacious and well equipped. The trick is to ask for a room which is... More

Booked a single room and it's very spacious, location is good, only 1 min walk to the nearest metro station. I walked to the museum island too which only take 10 mins. Around the hotel there are plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants, shops and art galleries. Yet at night it's quiet, no loud music or party people. Hotel is clean,... More

In an old building with character as opposed to characterless city hotels. Rooms round an indoor courtyard with lots of windows that opened, ideal if you don't like that feeling of being sealed in. Very quiet but also very close to bars and restaurants and walkable to notable landmarks, eg Reichstag, river area Lovely light dining room, good choice of... More

Conveniently situated near public transport and restaurants, this hotel is also in a quiet side road. It has a working sauna and reasonable breakfast selection. Down sides are two single beds (that roll around) in our double room, a tiny tv with poorly tuned selection, no alternatives for dietary sufferers at breakfast ( e.g. no lactose free milk). Price was... More

This was the first stop of our European vacation, so we were a bit jet-lagged and appreciated the good night's sleep we got here. Nice room, friendly staff, and accessible to public transportation. Enjoyed taking the stairs to see the beautiful plate glass windows.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
