Augustinenhof is in what was East Berlin and within easy walking distance of Museum Island and all the that remains, or is being rebuilt, of the former Prussian capital. It is quiet and comfortable. There are no frills but the rooms on the lower floors are spacious and well equipped. The trick is to ask for a room which is... More

Booked a single room and it's very spacious, location is good, only 1 min walk to the nearest metro station. I walked to the museum island too which only take 10 mins. Around the hotel there are plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants, shops and art galleries. Yet at night it's quiet, no loud music or party people. Hotel is clean,... More

In an old building with character as opposed to characterless city hotels. Rooms round an indoor courtyard with lots of windows that opened, ideal if you don't like that feeling of being sealed in. Very quiet but also very close to bars and restaurants and walkable to notable landmarks, eg Reichstag, river area Lovely light dining room, good choice of... More

Conveniently situated near public transport and restaurants, this hotel is also in a quiet side road. It has a working sauna and reasonable breakfast selection. Down sides are two single beds (that roll around) in our double room, a tiny tv with poorly tuned selection, no alternatives for dietary sufferers at breakfast ( e.g. no lactose free milk). Price was... More

This was the first stop of our European vacation, so we were a bit jet-lagged and appreciated the good night's sleep we got here. Nice room, friendly staff, and accessible to public transportation. Enjoyed taking the stairs to see the beautiful plate glass windows.

Mitte is not a party location but there are a lot of nice shops and restaurants around. The connection to the commuting is very good, the hotel itself is in a quite street. The rooms are average, providing a good sleeping quality. For the paid price around 70€ definitely recommendable. We took breakfast in the restaurant the next corner which... More

I had to stop for one quick last minute night in berlin and was able to book this easily direct with the hotel reception by phone - allapsoke English. Got a very nice room with ensuite and nice sitting room. Alas was a smoking room so of course everything stank to high heaven but as it was so late and... More

Fantastic location. The moquette in the aisles was old and dirty. The room's floor was so filthy. The duvet was very short, I'm tall m 1,84. The room was cold, without thermostat. The free line about wifi was awful.

Exceptionally located in the Mitte district, Augustinenhof is close to almost all relevant and interesting Berlin sights. Close to U and S Bahn stations brings you quickly to remote locations as well. Many restaurants and bars in the district. Nice clean rooms, fairly good beds, perfect bathrooms and a breakfast buffet well done. Only the breakfast coffee sucks. Perfect for... More

We are staying at this hotel right now and had 3 interactions with the front desk (reception) each one of them being worst than the one before. They speak a very basic english, struggled to explain if the sauna was working or not (you have to book 1 hour in advance if you want to use it) and, in the... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
