Very good hotel, real close to city center, next to metro station. It's clean It's quiet (though it is close to u-bahn railways, very good soundproof) It's pretty comfortable if you wish to spend much time at hotel. Very good value for money.

Hotel was lovely, staff friendly, great English, breakfast was very delicious! Perfect wee break from Scotland to berlin for New Year's Eve! Hotel is a fair walk to city centre, but we enjoyed the walk in the snow! Thank you again, we would come back to berlin again in the summer!

The hotel was very nice and the staff was helpful. Our room rate included breakfast which was also very good. There was not a good deal of restaurants in the area but there was an excellent Greek restaurant (Taverna Athena) within a 5 minute walk. It was very close to the U-Bahn which could get you to any place within... More

A fairly standard Mercure offering, but it is in a fascinating former Industrial area of Berlin. I paid a small amount to upgrade the room to one including A/C, useful during the Summer. The U Bahn is close by and the German Technical museum a short walk. I found it an interesting alternative to more familiar parts of the city.... More

I was guest for 2 nights, tourist. Very good location, close to metro (U-bahn), quiet, I was able to find a free parking place in the neighbourhood (on Sunday). A small bistro . Good equipment in the bathroom (cosmetics, hair dryer), a water kettle int the room and free tea/coffee refilled daily. Clean, however with some not nice smells (like... More

I will confess to doubts about the surrounding area when I booked but I took a chance based on other reviews and I'm glad I did. We took the X7 bus from the airport to Rudow where we got the U Bahn into Mockernbruke about 15 stops then a short walk to the hotel. Head towards the Technik Museum when... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
