I will confess to doubts about the surrounding area when I booked but I took a chance based on other reviews and I'm glad I did. We took the X7 bus from the airport to Rudow where we got the U Bahn into Mockernbruke about 15 stops then a short walk to the hotel. Head towards the Technik Museum when... More

The location is fantastic, literally across the road from the U Bahn station. Good room facilities including a fridge with snacks and drinks if you would like any. I got a single room which although seemed compact was actually quite cosy. The one thing I was annoyed by was the noise outside of people walking by in the corridors at... More

The hotel Mercure Mitte is an excellent hotel in Berlin. The U-Bahn station is located at 50 m from the hotel. There are 5 metro stations between the hotel and Gendarmenmarkt which is close to Unter den Linden. The street where the hotel is located is very calm. There is nearly no noise during the night. Of course if you... More

I thought being a Mercure I'd be safe booking the hotel, but how wrong I was. The Hotel is opposite the U-Bahn station, making it very convenient. Unfortunately you get the train noise pretty much all day. There is also some sort of conference centre across the road as well and the people coming out late into the night -... More

The hotel was reasonably comfortable and well located near the metro. Although there isn't much to do around the hotel, it is easy to get around as it is very close (100m) to the metro station which is connected to 2 lines. As a Platinum member I was given a late checkout (5pm) which was much appreciated. Wifi connection was... More

Great location - very close to the Gleisdreieck U-Bahn station and easily accessible to the city centre. The hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood and the rooms were clean and comfortable. We would stay here again on a future visit.

A great hotel situated at €10 taxi drive from the main Berlin rail station and just 100m from a tube station - 3 stops and you are in Potsdamaplatz. Brilliant facilities with well equipped and comfortable rooms with comfy beds. Breakfasts are well worth the cost and will set you up for the whole day. Reception cannot do enough for... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
