This is a clean and friendly hostel it is right next to the S & U Bahn which gets you to all the main locations in Berlin. There is not much around the neighbourhood so you will most likely spend more time out than in. The hostel is clean, the rooms are warm but you can always turn the thermostat... More

Clean hostel, right next to the S-Bahn station which is good for getting around. This does mean it can be noisy at night but FREE earplugs are provided at reception. Has the potential to be a great bar, but the atmos just doesn't seem to be there. The area that the hostel is located isn't the nicest, especially at night.... More

I think the most painful part of our experience was the location. Set in one of the poorest and most crime ridden communities in Germany this was not exactly an ideal stay... Was kindly introduced while eating breakfast a 9 am to the sight of a pimp and his unfortunate worker right outside the window. Terrible sleep for the 3... More

Hello Darren, It is unfortunate to hear that your experience at our hostel was not optimal. We regret however that you focus in your review is solely on the area surrounding the hostel and not the hostel itself. We would have liked to hear how your stay was so we could be able to improve on any aspect within the... More

really enjoyed staying at the spaceship with the glass sliding doors...right next to the train station, super clean, staff helped give me information about getting to the airport, (the line is RIGHT outside) etc. For those complaining about internet, I only used it in the lobby, I guess that's the only place you can get it which isn't a problem... Reception was friendly and helpful, room was clean. Didn't seem near much as far as nightlife goes, but the tram is right next door. Breakfast included, good lockers and new, clean bathrooms and showers. Every other hotel and hostel was booked in central berlin, and this still had rooms available. This is a great option if you're willing to go... More

I had never stayed in a hostel before - I always stay in hotels - but I wanted to give it a go. I got a bed in a 8 bed mixed dorm, and as soon as I got in the room I made some new friends. The hostel is pretty new (or it looks pretty new), and exceptionally clean.... More

Pro: - easy to get from Berlin Hbf (it's very near a s-bahn station and 20minutes away from Hbf); - clean; - the workers there are kind and ready to help you; - good and cheap breakfast (you pay 5 euros and you can eat/drink what and how many you want); - wi-fi; - everyone has a locked box for... As stated in the title, the rooms were unbearably hot both throughout the day and at night. I barely slept due to how hot the rooms were. The Internet wasn't fantastic as it was slow and struggled to reach the room I was in. There were also limits to how long they could be used at a time which can... More

We stayed in 2 separate rooms in this hostel, so I am submitting separate reviews. See my other review of the double room. Our flight was delayed more than 5 hours, so I emailed the reception to let them know we would be quite late arriving. There was a prompt response letting me know that it was okay to arrive... More

This was a more "formal" hostel closer to a hotel instead of a hostel. It's very clean and very new. The complaints I have are with the little things and rules they have. You can't open the door, you can't bring your own drinks in the main lounge area, you can only drink in the basement in the guest kitchen,... More

Staying in Neukolln

Neighborhood Profile
Neukolln
No Berlin neighborhood is more popular with the young and jet-set crowd than the old worker's district of Neukölln. With so many Turkish settled here, the area became known as "Little Istanbul." Today the percentage of foreigners is still high and visitors still frequent the Turkish shisha bars. In the daytime, they also visit the designer shops and sit by the canal in one of the street cafés up and down Westerstrasse or at Maybachufer, having a beer and waving to the sightseeing boats as they float by. But at night, Neukölln is dominated by increasingly young, alternative, and international crowds. This is particularly evident in the northern section of the district where there are many bars, funky clubs, galleries and restaurants. There, the night never seems to end.
