I stayed for four days in this hotel on a business trip. I loved the bohemian feel to the place and it was great to imagine which characters (maybe Christopher Isherwood?) might have stayed here. The furnishings and facilities are austere - which suited me. The breakfast - including a perfect runny boiled egg every morning - was wonderful. The... More

Walking into the Nurnberger Eck for the first time was like entering a time machine to the legendary Berlin of the Weimar era. The hotel is charming, comfortable and homey. The room, bathroom, dining room and kitchen were spotless. Breakfast is included and is made-to-order fresh, delicious and bountiful. The fresh fruit preserves made by Helma, the gracious and modest... More

This pension provides a good retreat from the commerce that now surrounds the commercial district near the KaDeWe. The pension has a nice atmosphere, gives you a good sense of the history of the building and the famous surrounding area. It is well located for walks up to Charlottenberg. Good cafes nearby. Rooms are not soundproof, so if you enjoy... More

We spent two most enjoyable days in the Pension Nuernberger Eck in Berlin and would definitely recommend it to people who want an alternative to conventional, mass produced hotel experiences. Our lovely host, Helma, runs the hotel, which is actually more like a city guest house, by herself and provides a very welcoming, personalised service. She speaks very good English... More

A beautiful B&B with very personalised service. The information provided by the owner laid a great foundation for further exploration of Berlin. The room was big and comfortable with an old but functional bathroom. My room was located accross from the breakfast room which got a little noisy in the morning, but it was small price to pay for a... More

I stayed here for a 3-day weekend. I enjoyed it, but with some reservations. None of these would keep me from going again or recommending to a friend, because I think that for the price, it was completely understandable. The pension is really beautiful. It is a classic design and at one time must have been a truly grand house... More

We stayed here from June 6th through the 9th and can't say enough good things about it. Helma is wonderfully kind and helpful, her breakfasts are a delight, and the location is very good. The Ubahn stop is right across the street and connects you with all parts of the city quickly and easily. The building and the furniture are... More

This pension is located in West Berlin. The area, although perhaps a little quiet at night, , is where all the big hotel chains reside and is near the big fashion shops. The historical KaDeWe shop is also nearby and worth a brief look. If you want to be nearer the nightlife then maybe staying in trendy Mitte or Prenzlauer... More

Contacted Helma directly through the bed and breakfast website ( [-]. We arrived really late into Berlin and Helma was nice enough to let us in and give us all the information we needed immediately (where we could grab a bite to eat and drink before catching some sleep). Also make sure to ask Helma all about the building, ceramic... More

We came upon this little pension through guides like 'lonely planet' and the 'rough guide'. The description said the furniture had not been changed since the 1920's and that it was a nice little pension. Certainly we can confirm this. The owner, Helma Baalmann, takes great effort to make you feel comfortable and at ease in Berlin. We stayed in... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
