I visited this hostel every summer for three consecutive years (2009-2011). Things may have changed since but I doubt it. Excellent evening atmosphere with a cheap drinks and an interesting variety of people in the bar and outside area to chat to. I stayed with a friend but I imagine a solo traveller would not feel alone there. The other... More

The Hostel is nicely decorated and the rooms are very clean and pretty. We visited this hostel twice in the past 14 months and we loved it! The paintings on the wall are absolutely well made! We loved the overall atmosphere in the hostel but sometimes the staff working there was not very polite/kind.

We stayed there for 10 days. We were moved twice and the second time we had no sheets for our beds. We paid the most expensive fare expecting the best, but it was rather disappointing. The atmosphere in the hostel though was great and the location is very good. Lots of stuff to do around. If only the staff wasn't... More

I slept at Odyssee 3 times in a couple of years. I came back here because i liked the location a lot (many clubs within walking distance) and the dorms are cheap and efficient equipped(every bed has its own light and electricity and locker . Now after the third visit i decided to leave a review, which i normally don't... More

I have stayed at the Odyssee at several occasions, the first time in 1998, when it was all pretty new. I finally wanted to share a review for this great hostel, which for me marks the beginning of an awesome 6 years in Berlin. Starting out there was perfect, as it was easy to meet people and due to good... More

Stayed in this hostel for 7 nights. To me it was a very average hostel. It didn't really have much of an atmosphere like some backpacker hostels in Europe. For a solo traveller it wasnt easy to meet people here. However the hostel is conveniently located and in a really cool area of town. The €3 breakfast is good and... More

Good prices for the rooms, nice atmosphere, cheap drinks, helpful staff, clean rooms, and perfectly located. You can easily reach a lot of sightseeing spots (5 minutes to the east side gallery ...). They have a happy hour and sell beer for 1 Euro. The reception is also the bar and there's enough space to hang out and meet other... More

We stayed in the dorm. Daily cleaning, clean bed sheets, comfortable beds. Huge breakfast until noon that we turned into lunch for only 3€. Very friendly staff. Would go back at any time. Not quite in the center but within a 20 m. walking distance from everywhere. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for a few nights recently with the mrs. The staff were very friendly and happy to sit down and join you for a beer. It's very easy to meet people here and the happy hour prices were amazing - just 1 euro for a becks. Great location, close to the metro and easy to walk around and discover... More

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
