I stayed in a five bed mixed dorm for two nights. Each bed had it's own cabinet that could be locked with a padlock. I used my own and can't recall whether the hostel sells them or not. Security was really good here, a key card to access your block of rooms and your individual room. Shared showers and loos... More

What an awesome experience. This hostel is serious value for money. It's clean, big and has really helpful staff (they helped me organise my trip to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp and printed out a little timetable of every train I needed to catch to get there). The breakfast is incredible and the bar has a great vibe. Would definitely recommend and... More

If you're looking for more of a hotel style hostel this is definitely your place. The building is so nice, clean, and safe, key card is required not only to get into the building and your room but also to get into the select hallway of your room. Cost wise, this place is fantastic, I stayed for 8 nights in... More

Really enjoyed my stay at the Circus. The private room had everything I needed, the staff were friendly and the place was really clean. It was in a great location for the U-Bahn and the Tram. Only thing that was irritating was I was woken up most nights by a particularly loud group who would come in about 3am. Would... More

Great quality for value. Clean, beautiful decoration just like showed in the pictures. Nice atmosphere. Don't forget to try the locally brewed beer. The breakfast buffet is really worth it. It's very well localized in the middle of Mitte, surrounded by cute restaurants and both big and local fashion brands' stores.

Talk about the best museum ever?!?!?! The Circus Berlin has a David Hasselhof Museum in the basement which was conveniently opened the day I came to stay. This is the perfect place for travellers and is a great spot to make some new friends. The breakfast is unbeatable!! Take a look at my longer review on my travel blog: http://giveforgranted.com/the-worlds-most-legendary-museum-the-circus-hostel/

I decided to start contributing on Trip Advisor so I wanted to review some of the places I have been. I visited this place in 2009 so things could have changed. However, my stay there was wonderful! The staff was great and the hostel was amazing, one of the better ones I stayed at on my month long trip. If... More

My husband and I stayed at the hostel in February for 3 nights. We had a private room with our own bathroom. The room and bathroom were both very modern and clean. We would normally stay in a hotel, but this was far better. There was a safe in the room. Anything you needed, the reception had it or could... More

The Circus Hostel really is as good as all the reviews say. Super clean, super modern and in an excellent location. Public transport literally on the doorstep, and its actually within walking distance to many of the best sites. There's a ridiculous amount of cafes, restaurants and bars in the area, and a 24 hour supermarket across the road so... More

Stayed in a twin room at The Circus hostel for 4 nights. Price was really reasonable and the staff were very friendly and welcoming, had lots of advice to offer! The transport links to the U-bahn, tram and buses are excellent and The Circus has a discounted travel day pass available for guests. They offer daily walking tours and the... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
