Stayed here for 4 nights. It is very central and right next to the U Bahn. The hostel is clean and they have lots of activities for guests. The rooms are large and reasonably priced. A great place to meet people and they also organise tours. There is also a bar downstairs.

Working in the same business I heard a lot about The Circus Hostel, and my expectations were high. The location of the hostel couldn't be a better one: walking distance to Alexanderplatz, the city center. You can also get subway from right across the street. I was pleasantly surprised by the accommodation conditions: rooms were very clean, with probably the... More

Even though Berlin is known to be the cheapest city in Europe, I was pleasantly surprised at the price of shared dorms. I was even more impressed with the quality of the rooms and bathrooms. Excellent place for solo travellers looking for somewhere reliable, central and affordable. Good buffet breakfast offered by the hostel for 5euros

Circus is a big hostel right in the heart of action of Berlin. Staff is friendly and rooms are big and clean, so are the bathrooms. They offer a nice bar and the location could not be better, in a street full of bars and restaurants, and subway right at the door. It can be noisy at night, but it's... More

This was our second stay in a private room w/ bath. We love the Circus and we recommend it to anyone traveling to Berlin. The location, the very helpful staff, the delicious 5 euro breakfast, Katz and Maus, and the list goes on. Sadly, what we did not love this visit was our first floor room that faced the noisy... While visiting Berlin I always stay at the Circus Hostel. Great, friendly atmosphere, very nice staff. The dormitory rooms are fine, there are shared bathrooms, however clean and in sufficient quantities for each floor. Since January the hostel runs own little brewery, so every guest has a chance to try it. Moreover the Circus is in a walking distance from... More

Stayed at this hostel for 4 nights - the bedroom was lovely and the shared bathrooms were very clean and more often than not empty - never had to wait to use the shower facilities. The staff were very friendly and the bar downstairs was a lovely place to chill after a long day sightseeing...would definitely recommend to stay here... More

It's places like the Circus Hotel that change the perception of budget accommodation. We stayed one of the self contained apartments on the 5th floor. I can't fault anything - it was clean, fresh, spacious and also comfortable. And under EURO 90 a night for 2 people. While we didnt spend much time in the common areas of the hostel,... More

I stayed in a five bed mixed dorm for two nights. Each bed had it's own cabinet that could be locked with a padlock. I used my own and can't recall whether the hostel sells them or not. Security was really good here, a key card to access your block of rooms and your individual room. Shared showers and loos... More

What an awesome experience. This hostel is serious value for money. It's clean, big and has really helpful staff (they helped me organise my trip to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp and printed out a little timetable of every train I needed to catch to get there). The breakfast is incredible and the bar has a great vibe. Would definitely recommend and... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
