The prices were among the best we encountered in Berlin for such decent food, as well. Kinda hipstery in feel, as you might expect given the area. I tried the local equivalent of macaroni cheese - and it was the best macaroni cheese I've ever had, hands down (sorry mum!) - and my partner the tuna salad. We both enjoyed... More

Die Fabrik is very well priced and a lovely place to stay. The front desk staff were really helpful 24/7, the beds were comfortable and the lockers secure. Things are pretty basic, though always clean, functional and friendly. Be prepared for the fact that women's shower room has no lock! The only problem was that the rooms were quite cramped,... More

Myself and my female backpacking partner booked this hostel at short notice. Reception offered a 24 hour service and late check in when notified. We were given beds in a 7 bed dorm and a locker each which is located in the room, these all locked with separate given keys. When we arrived it was late and the other residents... More

+ : Affordable, clean, spacious & conveniently located. - : No elevators, some staff were pretty cold, thin walls (you can hear your neighbour), shared shower space (no privacy - prepare to have randoms see you naked), weak wifi.

We came upon Die Fabric in a list of hostels in Berlin but what we found was a quiet, lovely hotel. Admittedly, we shared a bathroom with others but that was well worth the large, quiet, courtyard-facing room. Die Fabric is in a young, "hip", generally loud part of Berlin but our room was far from the street and we... More

Kreuzberg, where the hostel is located is an amazing place for youngsters wanting to visit Berlin. Hostel is chilled, cool, clean place. It's not luxurious but conditions are good and adequate to the price. Rooms are spacious, definetely a place to recommend!

Nice and very quite place in a very living and interesting area. Good price for the location. Very close to Schlesisches Tor (U2) metro station, to Berghain, Glashaus Arena and the clubs in the Warschauer Str, area.

I stayed here because my friend lives next door. I am 42 year old woman traveling alone. I was pleasantly surprised. The neighborhood is fun with many cafes, bars and galleries. There is a large Turkish community here and I had the best falafels! Die Fabrik is right in the middle of this neighborhood. I felt safe walking around alone... More

Room: We were a group of four in one room. The room was massive, clean, had old school lockers and a dining table and chair. Bathrooms: Were shared, which I don't have a problem with but the showers were between translucent so you had no privacy if you were showering at the same time as someone else. Service: When we... We were 33 people, 28 students and 5 parents visiting Berlin for a long weekend, staying at Die Fabrik for 3 nights. The staff was friendly and helpful! As we were travelling on a budget, we appreciated the fact that though we stayed at a very reasonable cost, the rooms were clean and so was the toilets and shared showers.... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
