It was snowing. That Easter seemed to be unsuitable to visit Berlin. We booked a couple of apartments in BelAhr Hotel, near de Platz square. When we arrived to the Hotel, a big german bear (it was a mannequin of course) greeted us by the front door and made us feel in Berlin. The entrance of the Hotel was small,... More

I stayed in the hotel (there are also apartments further up in the building) for one night on a business trip. This might be an ok place to stay if you were on holiday in Berlin, but I didn't find it very practical for my needs: - There was a big tour group there when I was there. This made... More

Nothing bad to say about this hotel, staff were friendly, it was in a good location, apartment room was big and spacious, bathroom very good. A tip if you want to buy any milk etc turn right when you leave the hotel and there are several places to buy from such as Lidl's etc. But turn left out of the... More

I'll start by saying I really wanted this hotel to be great and I was very disappointed. We booked months in advance and got a pretty good deal on a XL apartment for 5 people (2 adults and 3 girls ages 12, 10 and 5) for 9 our night's stay in Berlin. Pros: 1) Location, location, location – The hotel... More

Very impressed by the quality of accommodation which included well equipped kitchen. Pleasant, welcoming staff and quiet rooms - no air con so had to sleep with window open which is ok. Wifi as previous comments was not great. Breakfast, optional, was 12 Euros each but we enjoyed a bucks fizz so I was happy. Good location for walking to... More

I was quite pleased with this hotel. You'll be greeted by a nice staff who speak English well and can answer all your questions. It is a great value for the location. If you like to walk, you can do what we did: walk down to Potsdamer, on the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, walk along the Tiergarten all the... More

I stayed at the Hotel BelAhr for several nights last month and overall was pleased with my stay. My girlfriend and I booked on location. It's literally a 5 minute walk from Potsdamer Platz. The rooms are spacious and clean. The only faults I would have is that the wifi was pretty bad, the pillows were flat and it would've... More

Loved the location just a few minutes from Potsdamer Platz. Easy access from the main station with bus stop right outside the hotel. The apartment was spacious and clean but lacking a few basic pieces in the kitchen (oven sheet, oven glove, bread knife etc). It would have been helpful to have some basic instructions in English re: the washing... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
