I have stayed at this hotel for 3 night during December 2014 few days before Christmas. I pre-payed in advance and got a great deal. The room was clean and big, with the toilet separated from the shower room. The hotel is located ~100 meters away from Friedrichstr with two U6 stations in about the same sidtance from the hotel... Booked the superior room (for extra space) with breakfast included for 4 nights. Convenient location, spacious, quiet, comfortable, would stay here again. Room was on 7th floor with patio doors and balcony overlooking the courtyard. There was a seating area, fridge, safe, free wi-fi, air conditioning and large walk in shower. Coffee maker/coffee pods provided, but I stuck with my... More

The hotel was in an excellent location for our needs in city center. The room was unparalleled for an hotel. We stayed in a double floor room in the next building to the main hotel building. I do not know if this was due to the refurbishment in the hotel but we liked it! The staff were very friendly during... More

The hotel is undergoing some renovations which is fine and they are working around things. It would be since idea to update there website though so customers aren't disappointed. I asked about the massages that were advertised and they had been discontinued 3 months ago. On the up side the breakfasts were yummy

On a different visit I am sure I'd have been able to rate this hotel higher, but during our visit there were too many things impacted by the refurbishment activity to earn it the highest rating. There was no bar area, for instance, minor interruptions to the water supply to get maintenance work done, and some construction noise which started... More

Well, we just arrived in Berlin for a family trip to celebrate my daughters graduation to find that on arrival at the Mercure Hotel - Checkpoint Charlie they gave us a room with one double bed and two sofas that the girls thought are worse than camping beds! Before arriving we confirmed and paid for a family suite via email... More

Booked this hotel for a weekend visit to Berlin. The hotel is great just round the corner from check point charlie and the pick up for the tour buses. The supermarket on the next street north is very good for picking up beers, water and snacks for your room if you you need it. Not much around in the evening... More

We arrived late in the evening and were greeted by a stressed receptionist, therefore check-in wasn't too welcoming. The room itself was clean and very large with a large double bed and a couple of armchairs. While the furniture was in an excellent state the bathroom towels were as thin as paper, not what one would expect in a 4*... More

Location is very convenient for Checkpoint Charlie, Friedrichstrasse and Gendarmenmarkt, with excellent restaurants and shopping nearby. Hotel is currently undergoing modernisation so should be even better soon ! Staff friendly and helpful.

We have stayed at this hotel 4 times in the last 2 years and as you can surmise we hold it in deep affection This time the hotel foyer reception and bar area were under refurbishment but it made no difference to the quality of our stay. The location is superb a few hundred metres from Stadmitte U Bahn your... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
