My husband had a conference in Berlin, so we turned it into a bit of a tourist trip. VERY nice staff, excellent service in both bar and restaurant. We had a premium room, which was very nice, super clean, and quiet (even next to the lift). The gym is tiny (1 elip, 1 tread), though they do have a nice... More

I was in Berlin to run the half marathon. The hotel staff was very helpful and nice. The persons at the front desk were pleased to help me with a late check-out, due to the arrival after the run, for no extra charge. According to that I got a room upgrade as well. /Andreas Stockholm, Sweden

The staff was quite accommodating and patient. Everyone who worked the front desk was quite helpful and pleasant. Always smiling and friendly. The bartender was very friendly and breakfast was fresh and delicious. Room was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely recommend it to our friends.

The Mercure is an excellent hotel. It is easy to locate from the underground station Stadtmitte. It is situated on a quiet street but is central to all of the main attractions - Checkpoint Charlie and Gendarmenmarkt being the closest, with the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag building and Tiergarten about 15mins walking distance. The hotel is positioned close to an... More

Location is near checkpoint Charlie, a few minutes walk from Kochstrasse metro station. If you don't mind walking a bit you can reach the concert hall, Potsdamer platz and a bit further Alexander Platz. The area itself is rather quiet and good for rest. There are a number restaurants a few minutes walk from the hotel. We stayed in the... More

The hotel is very well located near the metro station as well as several options of restaurants in the neighborhood. The team's service was very kind. Breakfast with many options and the rooms clean and well ventilated. Good benefiti cost.

The hotel opens onto a quiet street but it is just steps away from things historic, thought provoking, delicious. It is a lovely starting point for whatever you choose to fill your time in Berlin with. (Watch for the strawberry shops-- the berries are fresh picked everyday:-) The Mercure was immaculate. The staff worked diligently to provide a comfortable stay... More

Stayed for 1 night on business (March 2015) and was really impressed. The hotel has just had a make over, and it was really good. The room was fantastic, bed super comfortable, the staff extremely helpful and next time I need to be in this part of Berlin I will stay again in a flash.

Stayed here recently for 6 nights, was staying at the premier suite (I guess that's the superior room), the room size was good, as compared to the room size standard in Europe, staff was helpful and the breakfast was good. Overall a good experience, very close to attractions like Check Point Charlie and accessible Public Transport points, good restaurants in... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
