Very good hotel located next to Checkpoint Charlie, and close to many other touristic attractions, such as the Potsdamer Platz and the Topography of Terror. The rooms are quite big and comfortable and the staff is very friendly.

Stayed in a two-bed apartment in the hotel for three nights whilst visiting the city. There’s quite a bit of building work going on downstairs which is near competition apparently but meant there was no bar and that ‘reception’ was a desk in a hallway around the back - not a great welcoming. However the staff on reception were very... More

Great location, within easy walking distance of most places we wanted to visit. Really friendly reception every time we returned to the hotel, even though there was renovation work (completely unobtrusive) taking place and the staff had a makeshift reception. We had an early flight from the U.K. but, in spite of arriving at the hotel at 11a.m., our room... More

My husband and son stayed here for a weekend in a triple room, with our small dog. It was so spacious, clean, and affordable. Also a great location. We had our car so we drove everywhere but most guests we talked to walked or took the bus and preferred that, because the location is central. Staff were very friendly also.

To be honest i can't find fault with the hotel. Great location for getting out and about. 2 min walk from checkpoint charlie, 10 minute walk from the wall remains. Only down point is no room service and no bar, but i understand these things will be reinstated after the renovation works. Other than that clean room and nice location... More

My third time at this hotel . Each time I've been part of a large group - usually with teenage children. Location is superb - close to public transport and very central to the main sights and museums. The breakfast is fabulous - so much choice , cant fault it. The rooms I have stayed in have all been a... More

I stayed here with a hen party and we hired out two family suites. The balconies overlooked the courtyard and not the buildings across the road, which was pleasant. We arrived ahead of check in and so we used the time to use their computer to book activities for our stay which was really useful! Throughout our stay staff helped... More

Fantastic stay in Berlin thanks to the Mercure at Checkpoint Charlie. It was my wife's 40th Birthday and when i mentioned this the hotel arranged a fantastic room. This made our stay really special. The hotel is in a great location for getting around and very close to the fantastic Augustines restaurant.

Just returned from 5nights stay at this hotel. Like other guests we were very disappointed to find it was undergoing refurbishment which we had not been informed about .This did slightly impact on our stay as we would have liked to enjoy a drink in comfortable surroundings at the end of the day however when these are completed at the... Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
