You can walk to several interesting places in Berlin. Gerdarmenmarkt is one of them. Don't miss it. The hotel is very near two underground stations, many hotels, cafes and of course, checkpoint charlie. We had to go there more than once because the queues were too long. The hop ob hop off stop is also there. The recepctionists were very... More

Even though I had booked a double standard room and phoned to confirm 3 days before arriving, they still managed to make a mess of my booking. I was told that I had to pay a premium for booking a double room for two people - I had initially booked it for 1 - the additional cost was 15 euros.... More

No need to worry here. This place is spot on. Underground is right outside the door. Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff are helpful and the bar is open late. Drop your baggage in early or leave it and collect it later. These guys are so helpful. I never had the breakfast so I can't comment on that. To explore... More

I was pleased with this hotel as the rooms were pleasant and the location was very central and convenient to restaurants and activities. The food was good and the staff was accommodating. The gym was minimal but it had a treadmill, which was all I wanted.

Holidays with our grandson to see Berlin. Found the room with the extra bed extremely nice, since the bed was situated in a small alcove linked to the master bedroom. Large room, comfortably and nicely furnished! Nice balcony opened up to the view of a lovely atrium garden where one could also take breakfast or enjoy a glass of wine.... More

Just good 4* hotel. I was sleeping probably in the residence, because my room was really big. Well equipped and the thing I didn't like was labirinth of corridors. And one more thing; in hotel for 111 euro per night you have to pay for "complimentary" bottle of water 5,5 euro! shame....

Really can't fault this hotel it has everything that you need. With Berlin being so big with so many different neighbourhoods with their own advantages it makes it quite difficult to chose where to stay. That said, the Mercure is centrally located a short walk to Checkpoint Charlie and also the subway which will take you anywhere else you need... More

Great location...very helpful staff. Very clean, the room was well-priced and much larger than your typical hotel room size. Excellent breakfast, wide choice of food. I will definitely stay there again on my next trip to Berlin

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
