The hotel is located just off the Gendarmenmarkt, which Berliners claim is the most beautiful square in Berlin, and is certainly a wonderful place to sit and drink coffee or eat a meal. It is also within walking distance of most, if not all, of the major sites. The hotel itself is quite small, and does not have much in... More

This hotel is very well located within walking distance of a lot of attractions as well as being easily accessed from the airport and U Bahn. The staff were very friendly and check in/out was fast and efficient. The bedroom room was clean and spacious and breakfast always fresh with a good choice. Would recommend staying

We were very pleased with the size of our room, and the bed was comfy. Nice bathroom too. Breakfast was good - bread rolls, pretzels, croissants, scrambled eggs, fresh ingredients to make yourself a sandwich ie sliced tomatoes, meats, cheeses, smoked salmon. The fruit salad was very fresh. Location wise, the hotel is great. A very short walk to Friedrichstrasse... More

There are both advantages and disadvantages living in this hotel. Advantages: 1. Friendly and welcoming staff, always well dressed and polite. 2. The room is very clean, relatively spacious and modern. 3. Stayed in a non- smoking room and it was very quite. 4. The room is well equipped and there are toiletries and slippers provided or they are available... More

I stayed at this hotel for a week in April and really enjoyed my stay. Cute hotel, not too big, and the most perfect location. The room is good size and clean, with nice shower in the bathroom. The reception was helpful and friendly, and the breakfast is very good serve in a cute room called Sunflower room. I was... More

If I were looking for a very good tourist hotel that is clean with friendly staff and stylish with a great location, I would stay here. The reason I have rated my stay average is that although I was given a good size room, it was obviously a smoking room at the top floor. Even though the hotel says you... More

I think this is my sixth stay at the Gendarme & I rate it the best, I was fortunate enough to have a corner, well appointed, spacious room on the fourth floor with a superb view. After each tiring day at the Seek Trade show, it was a pleasure to "come home" to be greeted warmly by the staff then... More

My first stay was at top floor, and when visiting a second time I was stayed at fourth floor. This time in a much smaller room, which was quite hot and I could not find anywhere to turn the heat down. What I really don't like is that you have to ask for wifi codes for each and everyone of... More

our first trip to Berlin and an absolute gem of a hotel, perfect location for in my opinion the best of the xmas markets at Gendarm Platz. Easy walking distance to the Brandenburg Gate, checkpoint Charlie and Museum island but the transport sysem is easy, regular and cheap to use if you prefer. Must visit the chocolatiers nearby. The hotel... More

This hotel is very modern, with clean lines. It is very close to public transportation and an easy walk to all the major points of interest. There are also many restaurants and bars in the area. The staff was very nice and accommodating.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
