This is one creative hotel. Your "room" is actually a caravan. This is a funny concept, it´s cheap and it´s fresh! The service is great and the staff/owner is fantastic. On the negative side it´s a bit of the city center (but that´s just my personal preference). Enjoy

Our family (travelling with our three children, ages 13, 13 and 12) stayed in two caravans for a half-term holiday. The kids were enchanted with the different caravans and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. There is a lack of privacy but you wouldn't expect privacy if camping in the open air in a similar space. The... More

As traveling couple, we have been looking for a place to stay already in Berlin. We've chosen this option due to recommendation from another hotel, and relatively high ratings on the TripAdvisor website. We have been offered a double room instead of a caravan accommodation. This option met absolutely NO VALUE-FOR-MONEY expectations at all! The overall look of the room... More

Huettenpalast has a great shared garden for your use in the nice weather, and very fun and well-kept caravans for sleeping. The communal showers are clean and the water pressure is strong and gets plenty hot, which was fantastic. We stayed in Schwalbanest caravan and loved it. The bedding and ambiance were great. The neighborhood is urban and artsy, about... More

We rode the bus from Warsaw to Berlin and showed up at 9am in Berlin exhausted from a sleepless bus ride. We had booked "little sister" and we're hoping to be able to drop off our bags. The owner was so nice. She told us the people that were staying in would probably be leaving soon if we wanted to... More

Do some research on this place so you know what you're going to! Hüttenpalast is a café/restaurant, a coworkingspace and a hotel, placed in an unassuming residential neighbourhood close to Hermannplatz in the Neuköllndistrict. Although they have traditional rooms, what we came for were the caravans. We were given the Herzenbrecher (heartvbreaker), a squeaky and charming caravan from 1959, renovated... More

What a find. Unusual and clever idea that actually works! Indoor caravans and huts. Very clean washrooms and an excellent front of house vegetarian cafe with very helpful staff. And in an area that comes alive in evenings. Local street market brilliant and even a big dept store nearby that sells everything if you really need that. Great place to... More

This place is such a cool concept with a whole bunch of retro caravans and little quirky huts inside a huge hall. The place is very open and relaxed and really radiates that interesting Berlin vibe. The staff here are very helpful and friendly which is a huge bonus. Though we only ate meals here a couple of times for... More

I stayed here for four nights and enjoyed the colour and wackiness of the experience. Staff were very clear and efficient and the bathrooms where kept immaculate, with a spare towel always on hand. Huettenpalast has the same noises and interactions you would associated with a camping site. Neukolin is a top area to explore by night with great small... More

I thought the best part of this great place was the cool, low-key, yet ultra-competent staff. I was in town solo for business and was a bit frazzled by the time I arrived (also a tiny bit late), but the wonderful woman running the place was so kind that I cheered right up and relaxed. The night I stayed at... More

Staying in Neukolln

Neighborhood Profile
No Berlin neighborhood is more popular with the young and jet-set crowd than the old worker's district of Neukölln. With so many Turkish settled here, the area became known as "Little Istanbul." Today the percentage of foreigners is still high and visitors still frequent the Turkish shisha bars. In the daytime, they also visit the designer shops and sit by the canal in one of the street cafés up and down Westerstrasse or at Maybachufer, having a beer and waving to the sightseeing boats as they float by. But at night, Neukölln is dominated by increasingly young, alternative, and international crowds. This is particularly evident in the northern section of the district where there are many bars, funky clubs, galleries and restaurants. There, the night never seems to end.
