I spent 5 nights at this hostel. When I arrived there the owner charged a huge fee for using the card and an extra price for you to use cover on pillow and mattress. On the first night there the owner fight to some girls and on the second, he kicked a boy... The police went there. There was no... More

This place is awful. Staff are rude and unhelpful. One day, I came back from sightseeing and my bag was removed from the room. I went to the reception and they explained that I shudn't have been placed in that room. A man who I don't think was even staff brought upstairs to another room where I had a mattress... More

When we arrived, we were told that we had no reservation. Actually, I received 3 days ago a mail which confirmed me I reserved and I was asked if I wanted to rent a car and so on, consequently I never received this mail. I asked the woman, who did not want us to enter in the hostel, if there... More

I was already warned that this wasn't a nice place to stay but had little choice. History Hostel is at a nice location, close to the S-bahn and with a cheap supermarket and a really good bakery just around the corner, but it is a very, very dirty place (for example: bloodstains on sheets, beer caps in heater, yellow rug... I usually never bother with hostel or hotel reviews because you do usually get what you pay for. If you shelled out a little bit more dough you get a slightly better experience, but usually nothing much worse or better than expect or can be gleaned from existing reviews. This one is different though, and thus my first review. The... More

I made a reservation, canceled in due time but still was charged by them - the reason was that they didn't get the cancelation message from www.hotel.info. I called them few times before someone was able to speak English and understand what's the problem. Now I am waiting to get my money back after forwarding them the cacelation confirmation.

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
