We were happy with the location as the Christmas market is just opposite the hotel. A convenient location especially for first time visitors. We had to wait a while for check in.I made the mistake of not checking if there was a bath tub. I was dissappointed when I found out upon checking in that only the suites had a... More

Stayed four nights December 2014. Found staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. Quality of accommodation was of a high standard. Very good location being a short walk from the Brandenburg Gate and checkpoint Charlie, close to the underground and shopping in Friedrichstrasse. Across the road was the best Christmas market I have seen in Europe.

We have been to Berlin before so perhaps it helped that we knew this hotel was ideally located in the heart of the cultural centre of Berlin. Though this is a 'boutique' Sofitel, it has flourishes of its larger sister establishments. The fitness suite and health spa (sauna and steam room, treatments available for booking) are prime examples. The breakfast... More

This is a great hotel. Absolutely fabulous location in the centre of Berlin. Walk to Brandenburg Gate, Jewish Memorial and Checkpoint Charlie. Close to fantastic shopping and Museum Island. Straight across the road from traditional Christmas markets. Great restaurants nearby. The service was friendly and the concierge can't do enough for you. Breakfast was very good with well stocked buffet,... More

As our experience in other sofitel, everything was great except the rude guy at reception. Never had this before and hope not to see it any more. it is a pity for a good hotel with great location. The souring is great as well and you can have nice walking to Ritter cafe and so on.

I thought having a good price at Sofitel level but finally you get what you paid for . So small room with no bathtub and low ceiling. Rather Mercure level then Sofitel label . Hilton nearby much better value. Slept before in the Ritz Berlin which is top but a little bit further 800 m . Seen the competition neighbourhood... More

My husband and I were at the Sofitel this last December (2014) for 4 nights. The best thing of this hotel is being right in the center of Berlin. You can walk to almost all major attractions. Our room was on the first floor, and although being right in front of the restaurant we were not troubled by any noise.... More

Superb. Staff were polite, helpful and attentive. The food was great. The room and bathroom was spotless. There is a great view of the French cathedral and the concert house from the third floor window. I have no complaints.

We have been staying at this Sofitel for a number of years, and have always enjoyed our stays. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and strive to provide a high standard of service, although at times they perhaps don't always listen closely enough. The hotel has been constructed behind the facade of an early 20th century building. It has been... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
