This was a funny little hotel in the former West Berlin. It seemed to my friends and I that it was more like a retirement residence--which is not to say that it was bad, just quiet. There's even a prayer room in the hotel so clearly there is a religious affiliation. Clean and simple. Nothing fancy. There was an excellent... More

Basic Hotel, but very clean and very nice. Staff very helpful. Huge rooms compared to other hotels and equipped with all you might need at your stay. The hotel is in a quiet area which is also its advantage and disadvantage. Although there is quiet and 2 metro stations just a few minutes walk, you can not go out at... More

Not a bad little hotel in a quiet area of Berlin. A few things, both good and bad, caught me off guard. Pros: The staff was really nice, and even spoke English pretty well. The room was large for Europe The area and the hotel itself were very quiet. The beds were pretty comfy. Cons: Nothing was free. Not even... More

The hotel is only a short walk from 2 subway stations, so getting around in Berlin is really not a problem. Situated in a quiet little street it is possible to have the window open all night and still get a good nights sleep. However, I really recommend to book a room towards the rear of the hotel. Overlooking a... More

Choosing the Carolinenhof Hotel in Berlin is not a bad choice if you want a cheap and clean hotel. It is not in the middle of the city but it is really close to two U-bahn-stations. The neighborhood is supposed to be quiet but we had the "pleasure" of being disturbed by a patient at the psychiatric hospital across the... More

The hotel is in a great location being on a quiet street between 2 fairly large streets. There are plenty of eating places nearby and it is close to 2 underground stations - 5-10 easy stroll away. From the stations it is 20-30 minutes into the Zoo Station or Alexanderpalz. We found the room was a good size though the... More

I spent four nights at the hotel and was very pleased with everything (apart from none of the information was in English but all the staff did speak good English) The room was a very good size and clean . The breakfast was excellent. The hotel was a 2 min walk from the underground giving it excellent links to all... More

Many of the hotels in Germany have an 11am checkout time, which is already ridiculous, but at Carolinenhof it is 10 am! 10 am!! As some other reviewers have noted, rather than wifi there is a cord for internet use, that cord is so short that one really can only use it sitting at the desk and hunched over uncomfortably.... When I entered this hotel I was not simply greeted, but I was warmly welcomed by the receptionist. Throughout my stay the entire staff was exceptionally friendly and hospitable. The next positive surprise was my room. It was larger than many hotel rooms and although situated at the street side, it turned out to be perfectly quiet. Given that the... More

I JUST returned from a two night stay at the Carolinenhof and a little personal time in Berlin following a work trip elsewhere. I believe this hotel was named after a woman who did some mercy work in the medical and / or psychiatric field. There is a placard in the hotel lobby that tells her story. It is in... More
