a great hotel to crash. After leaving from a very bad pension where we could not stay at all, we found this hotel just walking in the city. Motel One chain is very good. The breakfast is not free but it is worth to to pay for it.

We stayed for one week with two dogs. I loved the decor in the lobby and room, modern and clean. The location was fantastic, near a subway station and within walking distance of many attractions (Alexander Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, Gendarmenmarkt). TV and internet worked great. Beds were very comfortable and when the window was closed we couldn't hear any street... More

The location of this hotel is great but that's where the good stuff finishes. Cleaning service walked straight into the room at 8:30am 2 days in a row. The wifi was horrible, our phone could only just find it let alone use the Internet. On our last morning, we asked reception for the details on how to get to Central... More

We have just returned from a one night stay at the hotel and don't have any complaints whatsoever. Some have mentioned small rooms but ours was spacious with plenty of room for a cot. Bathrooms are small but clean with an excellent shower. Wifi is free and fast. Reception staff were friendly especially in the afternoon/evenings. They don't have a... More

The hotel is well placed and is within easy walking distance of many Major attractions. The U- bahn is next to the hotel. Pric is OK and it has its own paid parking garage although it is quite small and you cannot book a space. The room we had was on the top Floor with a great view over Berlin... More

This lives up to its name, but really, the 'm' instead of the 'h' should not mean there is a dirth of sensible room equipment!. On my stay, of the ten people in my group I asked if they were able to switch off the two bedside lights the previous night, 8 were not. We had to remove the key... More

I booked on Expedia. The price I paid was around 130 Euros a night about the same as a hotel price. It was nicely furnished and the shower was big. It was quiet and a 6 min walk to checkpoint charlie.

Located from the walk distance to U-bahn (Spittelmarkt - U2) and bus, this hotel of the chain has an exceptional location in Mitte. This is good to go to Alexanderplatz, Postdamer platz, or even walk to the Friedrischstrasse and Museuminseln. The entrance is modern, with design furnitures. The room is small and clean, but sufficient for a comfortable night of... More

I'm all for staying in character-filled,charming, local places.....but sometimes you just want the security of knowing that you'll get a great bed, hot shower, good soundproofing and a decent sized room. And if that's what you need then this chain is perfect. They're all virtually the same (some have bigger/better bathrooms) but all have the features I listed above. If... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
