I expected more - the hotel was certainly "rustic" - there's no guest services, the rooms are "bright" and if you run out of loo roll in the evening because housekeeping haven't visited then tough. The owner was friendly enough but I expect more from a Hotel than a pleasant chat when he's about. Won't be going there ever again

My mother and I spent a lovely 5 night stay a the Hotel Art Nouveau. Our host was extremely gracious and helpful - but not clingy in any way. We got a lovely welcome, and some great suggestions for meals in the neighborhood (how else would we have found the vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant!) The location in Charlottenberg was great -... nice big rooms, comfortably beds, clean, owner friendly and happy to give advice on best local restaurants and routes to best attractions. Good location not far from local transport, restaurants, although hotel was quiet it got a bit noisy outside between 10pm-2.30am but it was a weekend and there was a big match on -so perhaps its quieter at other times. breakfast looked good... I specifically wanted to come to this place because of its location, the reviews and because it was family run. The latter did cause a problem when I arrived late but Gerd had emailed me instructions on how to get in. After some difficulty I found my room and settled in. The rooms are fairly basic but I found this... More

8 years since last time, and everything was as I remembered it. Nice rooms, good beds, friendly service. It is increadibly quiet at night, you cannot believe that you are in the center of a big city. Breakfast is not fantastic, so you can go to a cafe instead.

Have visited this hotel few times, mainly because, it is not a normal faceless big hotel - The owner is very comitted to his daily work and likes to have a chat with you when you check in. The atmosphere is like coming home. You can take a beer from the fridge, make a note of it to the list... More

We had yet another wonderful stay at Hotel Art Nouveau earlier this month. It is our fourth in ten years, and each visit was great. Hotel Art Nouveau has a good location in Charlottenburg, close to both the S-Bahn and U-Bahn. There are excellent restaurants in the area, and the rooms are very nice. Still, it is the personal touches... More

We always remembered the Art Nouveau from our visit to Berlin 8 years ago so we had to stay there again. Gert and Christine were marvellous hosts and still are. Would you believe they were able to get us opening night seats for the Berlin Philomonic both visits. We had the Yellow Room both times, plenty of space and comfort... More

Excellent location for tourist sites (and in a good residential area), walking distance to Tiergarten, Charlottenburg Schloss and easy to get overground train to centre of Berlin (5 stops). This is a 3 star hotel so don't expect a flashy reception area - the guy is just great and friendly. As to art nouveau the rooms have some style but... More

Very enjoyable stay and friendly staff. Good value for money, comfortable and much more interesting than a big chain hotel. One recommendation would be to provide some courtesy toiletries in room - shampoo, toothpaste and shower gel would have been great.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
