The Hotel, while being a little more "out there" in design and colour schemes etc, was a perfect base for a stay in the centre of this historic city. The room, a junior suite at 84 euros a night!!, was large and airy with a huge bed with a big lounge that had two more convertible sofas and TV to... More

I really like this place – the modern, minimalist but practical décor, the clever lightening system, the little Korres toiletries in the bathroom and the best thing – the breakfast. There is a wide selection of hot and cold food and drinks and it is good value. There is a computer at the reception and the receptionist can print out... More

Any city break is helped by finding accommodation which is close to the places you want to visit. This hotel scores well on that with most attractions within walking distance and in Berlin that is further aided by the city being relatively flat. 200 yards up Mauerstrasse from Checkpoint Charlie in the old East quarter this is what I would... Came over to Berlin to watch Noel Gallaghers high flying birds and to soak up some of the city's history. We were not dissappointed!! Hotel was very clean, neat and tidy, modern and perfectly situated next to check point Charlie. Would defo stay again. There was just 1 thing that it was missing... tea & coffee making facilities in the... More

Great hotel in centre of city gives the full feeling of a city full of character. As the name suggests right by checkpoint Charlie good location to explore the city. Went for the Christmas markets well worth it a lot within walking distance of each other but you need a map to realise it

Traveling with a college student group of 20, my faculty colleague and I booked into the Hotel Gat Point Charlie for 7 nights. The students shared twin-bedded-rooms, which were cozy but quite small. My colleague and I were upgraded to junior suites which had more space, a living room area with two-seat couches and TV, a king size bed in... More

This is tucked away up a side street but very bright when you get there. The colours are vivid and create a cheerful atmosphere. The staff are great and very helpful, as well as being very knowledgeable. The room was also vividly coloured, good job we didn't have hangovers! The only problem was that there was no wardrobe or drawers.... More

The room is a little basic. Small bathroom, no tea making facilities, no fridge, no furniture apart from the bed and a desk. Having said that, it was really clean and comfortable, and I only paid around $65 USD per night. As others have said, it's located right next to Checkpoint Charlie and the U-Bahn, and it's within walking distance... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gat Point Charlie. The hotel is a bit quirky with its style, but it only makes it more interesting. Rooms were good size, clean, same for bathroom. The location is ideal - close to the U-Bahn station which makes it super convenient to travel around Berlin. It's also close to the Friedrichstrasse which is one... More

I did enjoy staying in Gat Point. I found it to be in a perfect location with excellent service and I also enjoyed my cosy modern room. Wifi connection was ok (some improvement for speed would be nice).

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
