This hotel could be a dream or a nightmare depending on your situation so let me first explain my situation then you'll understand if this review applies to you or not. I'm 32 and was travelling with my 29 year old pregnant wife. We like to holiday on the cheap and have stayed in many decent (and bad) hostels over... More

I loved this place, Matt is so kind and interesting! He talked to me a long time and never seemed annoyed or rude. The terrace was very enjoyable, we made great friends who we met later on our trip, the kitchen was great and kept clean all the time. Showers were also clean all the time. They really keep this... Great service - friendly and professional. Really nice atmosphere. Spacious, well set up common areas and large rooms with lockers. Close to a train station, restaurants, ATMs and supermarkets. Really reasonable price. Only downfall was that the wifi didn't reach our dorm room, no big deal as it worked fine in the common rolm.

If you're in Berlin, between 18 and 25 and love a rooftop bar you have to come here. For a Berlin newbie, the staff are really helpful and friendly, and are at the bar 24/7. Pretty good for meeting new people, well situated... About half an hours walk from the big clubs and bars, similar distance to centre ie reichstag... More

When my friends and I first arrived we got a bit of the shock as the area seemed a bit dodgy. However, our tune soon changed. It's in a very hip area that is very multicultural. The U bahn is literally metres away. The hostel itself is super clean with a great atmosphere. I would highly recommended it for 18-30... More

So boring!!! Indie rock music, boring staff... Not for me! And they really aren't organising anything and they don't help you to find places neither! So if you're into hipster music, boring artsy conversation and walking around the most confusing city in the world... Go there! If not, try something else ;)

Stayed 4 nights and surprisingly slept well throughout the entire stay. Lots of food nearby and the hostel is right next to the U Bahn making for easy travel. Rooms were clean and staff are friendly. Sad to be leaving Berlin!

This hostel is overall a good place to stay. It's practically on top of a U-bahn station so it's very easy to get around if you don't want to walk everywhere. It's in an interesting, less touristy part of town, has hot showers, and a cool lounge/rooftop deck area. The downsides are you can't bring in any of your own... More

This was the perfect hostel for a solo backpacker and was one of my favourite European hostels! The hostel facilities are great, with multiple toilets and clean single-sex shower blocks, large rooms, good kitchen facilities and a great common area to meet people. Cheap beers are available from reception and there's a nice rooftop area which would be great in... More

This hostel is definitely one of my recommendations in Berlin. The good impression started right at check-in. At check-in they told us one of the pipes in one of the showers burst, so there were less showers available, but because they thought it wouldn't be fair to make us pay the full price then, they knocked off 20%. I think... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
