A friend recommended this little 'designer hostel' in Friedrichshain. I love this area of Berlin with all its little cafes, restaurants, bars. It is such a cool area! So I booked a single bedroom at Lohwasser. The room was small with a very comfy single bed, desk, chair, basin, drawers, clothes rail, television & balcony on the first floor. Shared... More

Great hotel in a perfect location, very clean and friendly. Perfect for bigger groups. Went with a group of 12 and found the hotel perfect for our needs, with cooking and dining areas. The rooms are quite hostel like, but trendy. Highly recommend the 'bunk bed' room! Easy access to the underground and main city area. Would visit again!

Hotel Lohwasser is the perfect place to stay if you want to experience Berlin's famous nightlife. Friedrichshain is lively and edgy, with streets lined with bars and trendy restaurants. Nevertheless, the hotel itself is in a quieter street, so you still get a good night's sleep. Especially as the beds are super-comfy! The whole building is brand-new and very modern.... More

The best hostel I've stayed in. In the centre of Friedrichshein. Many restaurants and shops close. The impressive Karl Marx Alle around the corner. The hostel was modern with balconies and cooking opportunities. Clean and tidy. Check out flea market on Sundays.

Lohwasser is a great little 'pension hotel' in Berlin Friedrichshein, only a few meters away from one of Berlin's most vivid boroughs ("Kiez" in German) around Boxhagener Platz and Simon Dach Strasse in Friedrichshein. F'hein is Berlin's next Prenzlauer Berg, its cool, its lively and this area is probably Top3 place to hang out together with Bergmannstrasse, Kreuzberg and area... More

Heinrich's a little creepy and manic-depressive from time to time. He's a clean freak and will act passive-aggressive toward you if you don't wipe down every spot. He'll sort through your garbage to make sure nothing recyclable is thrown away and therefore he knows (quote) "all your medications and what your lifestyle and diet is like." Staying for a little... We enjoyed a very nice weekend stay at the Hotel Lohwasser. The room we had was very nice with garden view and bathroom. All the hotel is very stylish with simple but nice decoration. We definitely recommend it for a stay in Berlin and we'll be happy to come back in summer!

Hotel Pension Lohwasser is a fantastic find in one of the world’s great cities. It is brilliantly located in the heart of the lively Friedrichshain neighborhood near Boxhagener Platz, within easy access to all other parts of the city (closest U-Bahn Frankfurter Tor) and to all the local eateries, galleries, bars, shops, etc... It is run by the congenial Heinrich... More

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
