Cool looking place. Good location, helpful staff, and all you can eat breakfast. It is like an upmarket hostel. We liked the bar and the coffees served, lunch portions were generous, and the room was unusual, quirky and comfy. The cool factor overrides any negatives. It's not too perfect, but if you are into trying new trends and arts, give... More

Loved it. I'm a solo traveler, female and from NYC. I came to Berlin because I had heard so much about its culture, spirit, music and vibe. This is the perfect place to stay if you are looking to explore that. The Michelberger is very well located to the S Bahn so in 10 minutes you can be in Mitte,... More

If you ever had any sort of desire to fit in within the hipster world, this might be your great chance! Everything within the Michelberger is quite hipster, even haircuts, tables, lamps, ladders, elevators and so on. The only thing unhipster-like is the price. Nonetheless this is a proof that there are hipsters in this world that actually have a... More

I will forever connect the Big Lebowski to this hotel since it plays the movie on loop. Cool bar, great lounge area + courtyard, love the chalkboard + book racks. It's funky and stylish, whoever designed this is a real design freak. Very, very cool. The bartenders make great cocktails and the food was good, too. They also have a... More

This hotel was recommended to me by many people in Berlin. The location is great. The lobby and courtyard are probably the most interesting I have ever been, but the hotel rooms are clean and minimalist like a backpackers hostel. For the price it costs to stay in this hotel, I would have expected a few luxuries... like perhaps somewhere... More

The Hotel is close to an underground station and in an area with lots of cool night life, so from what I could see caters more for young(ish) fashionable hipster folk, rather than families or older visitors. The room, bar and restaurant areas are really interestingly designed, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants... More

Room is basic, but I guess it's cool design or whatever. The lobby is great as well but most of the rooms face the main street and it's super loud with kids raging until the wee hours breaking bottles and yelling. Also in the summer the loft beds make for very poor sleep quality since they are near the roof... More

Awesome. Third visit here and will be back many times in the future Im sure. Great vibe, good strong wifi, breakfast is AMAZING - the fact they make your coffee to order is a really nice touch, as was the free cans of coconut water. Not much else to say!

Really good breakfast at the hotel with a wide range of fresh options. The room was well laid out with the bed up on a mezzanine and a sofa and bathroom beneath. Although the room was quite basic it provided everything we needed and had some nice little touches. Lively bar area as you come in which had plenty of... More

Quirky, lovely hotel. Ate in the restaurant and that was excellent. Loved the public areas. The room was tiny, but we knew that when we booked. Should point out we stayed here during a heatwave, but the room was unbearably hot. There was a fan but it did nothing really. Good location.

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
