Stayed at this hotel with my son during a weekend trip to see the sights and go to some music events. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. The staff are courteous and very helpful in every area of service. The rooms and facilities were of a good modern standard and clean. Highly recommended.

First trip to Berlin. Hotel is close to museums, hop on hop off bus tour, Reichstag, and very near to Mall of Berlin. Room very comfortable and large. Restaurant on premises. Definitely recommend if you want to be in quieter part of city.

Great location (close to Gendarmenmarkt), modern decor, good bar and very polite service. The rooms are not very big, but comfy enough for a few days' stay. If you're lucky to get a room at the corner location, you will have a big three-part bathroom. Things are not over the top in the hotel but you get all you need... More

Good location but set in the middle of office complexes so immediate area seems sterile. Great eating and shopping just a few blocks away. Fantastic breakfast buffet with plenty of comfortable seating and good service (best breakfast buffet in Germany, in my opinion). Rooms are small but comfortable and well insulated for sound. Our room layout had the bed right... More

I wanted a hotel that was located near the Museum Island, and this hotel fit the bill perfectly. The Berliner Dom was practically visible from the Arcotel John F's front entrance. Unter den Linden is also a stone's throw away, along with its many shops and restaurants. This hotel was stellar in every way -- from its location to service,... More

The John F is in a perfect location, close to almost everything that a tourist would want to visit in Berlin. For things further away, there is a bus stop right outside the hotel door, and a subway station two short blocks away. The immediate neighborhood is a huge construction zone, so first impressions are not good, but the hotel... More

Very nice hotel in good location to see the main attractions. We stayed in a junior suite which was a good size and worth paying the extra for. The bar area was very nice and the staff were very friendly. We didn't eat in the hotel but the food looked nice but did enjoy the cocktails. There are plenty of... More

Probably one of the most cost effective places to base a short holiday to visit the museums and history of Berlin. If you visit a city like Berlin built upon centuries of monumental history, you won't do it from your hotel room. The Arcotel provides more than enough comfort to rest and relax between the multiple trips you'll make venturing... More

Inadvertantly left my wife's jewellery in the room which was very promptly found and returned, very much to our relief. Followed up on the great service from the staff all weekend. Great location, very comfortable for business or tourism. Highly recommend

We last visited Berlin some time ago and were overjoyed with our stay at the John F so when we planned a visit to Berlin this past weekend we had nothing else in mind except the John F, in Mitte, just off Gendarmenmarkt Square. Our visit did not start well. We had received an email asking us if we would... More

Dear guests, Thank you very much for your detailed feedback. We do understand that you were disappointed, that after you got the email regarding the possible upgrade to a Junior Suite, that by the time you decided it was no longer available. We only have five Junior Suites and they are always very quickly taken. There seem to have been... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
