The bathroom was awful, extremely dirty. The toilet was running out of toilet paper and blocked. We changed to the hotel and thankfully there was no problems. The breakfast was okay, it is not really awesome but not to poor as well. The location is really a high point. Easy access to subway and buses, just a few steps.

I stayed there for 4 nights and had a good time. The location is great: close to some tourist attractions like the Checkpoint Charlie and others. A short walk to the Brandenburg Gate. It's central, but it's not too noisy. Also a short walk to the subway. The staff was just OK. The room was clean and big enough for... More

We visited as a group of 6 girls over new year. It was fab that we could book a dorm for just us. The room was spacious and clean. The communal wash areas were kept as clean as possible by the staff. The staff were very helpful at the desk when we were asking about the city! Get a "welcome... More

This hostel used to be an embassy of North Korea! Nowdays that embassy is situated on the next building, but staff said there's a secret tunnel between buildings!! (locked, of course) Well, the entrance hall is big and there's also a big dining hall. The price was very cheap, although it didn't include breakfast even they say in their advertisement... More

My husband and I stayed here in a private double room with ensuite for 5 nights in December 2014. The pros: Most of the staff were nice and helpful (one was a little brief and abrupt but that might have been a language issue rather than rudeness). The room was quite large for a hostel, and was clean. The shower... More

City hostel Berlin has a great location; around 5 min. walking to the stores and restaurants on Friedrichstrasse and 10 min. to unter den linden. Moreover, it has an U-bahnstop next to the hostel, which makes it easy to go around Berlin. The room was clean, but unfortunately our shower leaked. However service was good and the hostel deliverd good... More

The hostel itself is nice and it has a perfect location. It's close to the subway so you can get around daily anywhere you want to go and it's within walking distance of a lot of places of interests. The rooms are clean I stayed in a four bed dorm with a shared bath which was great and it was... More

Clean hostel, close to Alexanderplatz and S-Bahn. Also Check Point Charlie. Staff are very receptive and helpful, you have a full kitchen to use and share, also you have a delicious breakfast buffet for 4,90 Euro per day and person. They have a Pub and a Basement Lounge, great place to meet new people from around the globe and to... More

Well, let's start with the good: Locker room to keep your luggage. It's clean. the rooms have plenty of space and light. there are small lockers in the room, what is good, but you need to take your own padlock. breakfast. beers and snacks that you can buy in the reception. the staff was helpful. the bad: big place and... Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
