Hostel was clean and furniture was in good shape. However, this hostel is very unfriendly to backpackers: - It is huge, many floors, lots of people, no community. - Although location is good as it is in the City Center, you end up either spending a lot of money in food or spending a lot of time in public transport... The room (6 bed) was unbearably hot at night, having the windows all the way open was simply not enough. Also the wifi was practically none existent. Saying that, the location was very good and the breakfast was nice, although you have to pay for it.

The location is good, a walking distance to the main touristic places. It's really big so it lacks the "hostel atmosphere", it's more like a hotel, with the differnce that you share the room. I shared the room with 6 other people and it was ok. The room was spacious and with a private bathroom.

The location was good, close to a lot of attractions and on a good transport route. The wifi was awful, our lights didn't work, the TV signal was poor (we spent one night in). The staff were rude and unhelpful, when asking where the supermarket was we got the response of 'in that direction for a while' and when we... More

Stayed three nights, didn't have a good experience. There were only two showers and two toilets for our whole floor (I don't know how many people this was to cater for, but we stayed in an 8 bed dorm and there were many more rooms/dorms on the first floor!). The showers in particular were absolutely filthy for most of the... More

This is a great hostel for backpackers as its fairly central (close to Freidrichstrasse which has a central metro line) and supermarkets, restaurants etc. Its very clean and comfortable. It also has great wifi and they do cheap food and beer. Sitting out in the beer garden is a great way to meet people. Only downsides are: firstly there is... More

I like the hostel from beginning to the end. Great atmosphere and great people. I like it's bar a lot. Good way to meet new people. Clean rooms and happy faced staff :) If you are travelling alone, pick city hostel to make new companies for your trip!

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
