...with regular, small, standardized hotel-rooms, smartloft is a great alternative. Spacious, modern, unusual, convinient. The area is becoming more and more popular. Lots of restaurants, unique cafes, shops that are hip and not overpriced. Close to public transport and the city-center is easily reachable. You could even self-cater in the appartement (complete, modern kitchen etc available), A large MAC-Pc for your use and for watching TV, WLAN offcourse,... More

A real value for your money! The location, the service, the place itself. I came to Berlin for a short city break and felt in love with it. Smartloft was also a part of the experience and it was fantastic. Definitely going to come back.

My family stayed here for one night at the extra-large loft. Just after check in we explored the apartment and realised that there was an extra door inside our apartment and opened it, behind that door was a flat from someone else living there. I went down to the reception and ask them to lock that door which was done... More

Dear Mrs. K, thanks for your review on Tripadvisor. I am sorry to hear that you did not like your stay here in our house, but I need to clarify a couple of your complaints. First I would like to apologize for the disturbance by the service man that read out the water meter. This happens once a year and... More

The Smartloft is located in a neighborhood where you can find things easily, you have a super market right around the corner, a metro station nearby and restaurants around the corner. It is not so close to the center if you take the metro, specially because you have to change metro in huge stations like Alexanderplatz or the Haupbahnhof. For... More

Dear Isabella, first of all I would like to thank you for your review. The surprise you found in the coffee maker and that the floor that was not as clean as you expected, is of course our fault and we will make sure that something like this will not happen again and I would like to apologize for that.... Our stay at smartloft was ok overall. Our apartment was clean and felt spacious and open and there was a great bar opposite however, on the downside, quite a few things didn't work and the shower flooded after every use! There was no cable for the music speakers provided, the wifi code given and one of the bedside lights didn't... More

Probably the best B&B I have ever stayed at. Also the neighbourhood is very cool. Check out nearby 8mm, it is my favorit bar in Berlin and a really unique themed venue in the world. Also I should not forget to mention Umami which is the funkiest and friendliest japanese restaurant I've ever dined at. There's far more to explore... More

Smartloft is perfect for discovering the City of Berlin. You can rent a Dutch bike around the corner. You can have a nice brunch on the other side of the street in der Schwarze Pumpe. And it only takes 15 minutes walking to be in the heart of Berlin.

We had perfect weekend in Berlin in that super LOFT style appartments. Teens have enjoyed the stylish modern look and we loved the quiet nights :-). The rooms are huge, the kitchen is well equiped. Shower is very interesting from architectural point of view. We loved the place!

Spacious, very well equipped apartment in cosy neighbourhood. Good restaurants, good shopping nearby. A short walk to City Center. Good service, "gemutlichkeit" from "the drifters" of the place. A little noice from the street in the night.

Dear Marit, what a great review! Tusen takk! Thanks a lot for staying with us and sorry, that you felt disturbed from the noise at night. This is a never ending downside if you are situated in the centre of a big City... ;). Have a good time, the Smartloft team. More

My husband and I had a brilliant stay at these apartments. We stayed in Compact Hudson which is the smallest size but it was spacious and well laid out and felt roomy. The bed was very comfy, the shower was powerful and there was lots of daylight from the large windows. We used the fridge to chill a bottle of... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
