Really great hostel. Near tram stop, easy to find. Staff were excellent. Beds comfy. Place really clean. Very Safe and Secure. Lockers use same key card for your door. BUT THE BEST BIT - THE BAR UP STAIRS HAS GREAT VIEWS, we watched the sunset with a few cheap happy hour beers. A great place to meet new people after... More

Best hostel I have ever been to. 5 friends and I stayed in Wombat Hostel and absolutely loved it. Cannot recommend it enough. It's affordable, modern and friendly! The location is absolutely brilliant, close to everything that you could possibly need. Train station and U-bahn very close. Easy to reach, Berlin is really easy to navigate. The hostel has breakfast... More

This hostel is great! I was in a 6 bed dorm, which was very clean, you have individual lockers and free wifi in the bedroom. The staff was friendly and helped me every time I had a question. Also, it has a bar on the balcony which is great to meet new people. The hostel is located right next to... More

Overall the room we stayed in was great. Clean and neat, comfortable bed (if you prefer a firm matress) and most staff were helpful and courteous. The location is hard to beat in terms of access to food, drink, bars and tourist stuff. However, as at 15/05/15, the following should be noted if you're going to stay here: - Both... More

My friends and I stayed at this hostel for our post exams trip. Our stay was great. The hostel is spotlessly clean and well located (very near to great restaurants and close to the underground). The rooftop bar makes it all with some amazing sunset view of Berlin during summer. The ambiance also is very nice during the evening and... More

This was my first time staying in a hostel and I was skeptical at first as my friends and I (total 6 of us) were going to share a room with 2 other strangers but everything turned out fine :D The great things: - there were lockers to lock our stuff - we were given clean bedsheets and pillow cases... I haven't had a lot of experience with hostels, however I was truly impressed from arrival onwards. We booked a twin private room with ensuite which suited our needs. The position was great, especially when getting bearings. The shopping around the area is fantastic, great variety of restaurants and easy to catch public transport to the touristy locations!

The hostel is new and modern. The bathrooms are clean and good. The location is really good, one metro stop from Alexanderplatz. They have good lockers inside the room. The bar is really good and have a nice view of the city. This hostel is the best option for Berlin!

I have been to 3 of the 5 wombat locations and would go back anytime. The atmosphere is so friendly and laid back. The "wombars" are a lot of fun. They have two happy hours and it is all very reasonably priced which is great considering the guests are usually young backpackers. Includes a great, affordable breakfast as well as... More

My friend and I ended up getting a four-bedroom to ourselves for the days that we were there. The facilities were very clean and spacious. They provided a locker with a built in lock that corresponded with your room key. The beds were fairly comfortable, with a plug-in and light next to each bed. There was a fun bar up... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
