My first hostel on my trip and very glad I chose wombats! Rooms were clean, and cleaned daily and the bar on the rooftop was great! WiFi was a bit patchy in my room, but if you went down to the lobby it was ok all of the time so that wasn't too bad. Good location literally next to a... More

Spent 2 nights here and can't complain! The staff was amazingly helpful with directions and tips about the city. The rooms were comfortable and clean. I actually booked a 6 female dorm and they put me in a 4 female dorm... Yeay! The view from our dorm was actually great, overlooking the TV tower. Hostel close by to nice restaurants,... More

The rooms were clean, not overly spacious but I was with close friends so it didnt bother me! The bar was awesome and we drank all night! After coming back from the Hofbrauhaus and having a great night there, we expected to be going straight to bed, but the Wombat was still going strong and so we kept going! Great... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in a 6 bed dorm with an ensuite...the beds were comfy, there was plenty of space and the bathroom was nice! The location seemed good although I didn't get out enough to know for sure. The adjoining restaurant is not bad to eat at...nothing amazing but not bad. The roof top bar was really nice... More

Me and my friend checked into the hostel for 3 days and 3 nights without ever experiencing staying a hostel before, so we were very wary . The hostel is in a great location, with comfortable beds and friendly staff. We stayed in a 4 bed dorm which worked out at £15 ish a night. Great value and their roof... More

Wasn't expecting that much as lots of recent reviews complained about the lack of a/c. Loved this hostel! Not far from Alexanderplatz, good restaurants and bars nearby, and the staff were friendly and approachable. I was in a 6 bed female dorm there was plenty of space, big room, with bathroom inside the room which was great. Liked the key... More

I spent 4 days in Berlin (I suggest staying much longer if you can) and I loved this hostel! Stayed in 5 different hostels total in my trip and this was the best! Cleanest, friendliest, liveliest... There's a bar upstairs that's really convenient (especially when you don't get into Berghain) the bartenders are rad and the place is always packed.... More

Stayed here with friends and just wanted a cheap base to explore the city. The hostel has all the basics and is clean, dont expect luxury, however it does have a pretty cool roof top bar. Food is basic and a little uninteresting, however, you are well placed to find somewhere better in the rest of the city.

Stayed here for 3 nights in July. The rooftop bar was decent, with really cheap happy hour prices! The best thing about this hostel was the location - was perfect! We had a double room with an en suite, which was a decent size. A lovely stay!

I went to Wombat's with a friend for one week, we shared a 6 bedroom mixed room. The ambience was good, all young people from around the world. All the staff in reception was very friendly and helpful. The kitchen and terrace area was very organized and good as well. The best thing was the roof top terrace! A very... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
