I was there with a friend in Sep 2014, it was a really really nice place, not on a loud street, in the heart of friedrichshain very close to the bridge that connects to kruezberg and some major clubs and bars locations around. the private room was roomy, with a nice big window, the bed was a bit squeaky (but... Pros: Amazing Staff Amazing Value Amazingly Quiet Amazing Space I loved this hostel so much <3 The staff was very helpful. The rooms are very tidy. The beds are very comfortable and there are lockers in every room. There are computers with free internet, and great shower rest room facilities that are spacious and best that i saw in Berlin

Everytime I come to Berlin, I stay in this hostel. It's one of the cheapest (€9/day in a 6 beds room; they have other options btw), and all the employees are really friendly and nice. Coffee, breakfast and fruits are available all day long. The kitchen and the bathroom are very small but ok. And what about the location? It's... More

It was amazing choice! Small and cozy, with enough space for everyone, great kitchen with everything you need and 24h service, pleasant living room with comfy sofas, free internet, warm and friendly atmosphere, and great staff! To not even mention the location - very cool neighborhood, close to transports, very handy and easy to find. In terms of quality of... More

Backpacker is a really nice hostel with friendly and welcoming staff and clean rooms. Although it's not located directly in the center, the neighborhood is really cool (lots of small bars and restaurants). As the name says - ideal for backpackers! I would definitely go there again.

I traveled around Germany for a month staying in hostels most of the time, and Backpacker Berlin had the best environment. Not only was it one of the cheapest, but breakfast was included, free computer terminals with internet access, a well stocked and assessible kitchen, and the most helpful staff. The common area was great and actually had people interacting... More

So I was going to arrive past their reception hours (midnight if I remember) and I made special arrangements to get my key from a lock box outside ..... only when I got there, there was no key. I was stuck outside for until they opened again in the morning. Needless to say I was very angry. However, the woman... More

Nice atmosphere, cozy ambience and I love the sitting area with hot tea and milk throughtout the day and table games. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathrooms clean too. The only thing I did not like was the bed creaking. It is not really in the center of the city, however the hostel is only 5 minute walk... More

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
