We were very pleasantly surprised by the Amberger - especially having read 2 fairly poor reviews. Yes it's a small hotel, the rooms aren't huge but it's clean, centrally located, perfectly adequate breakfast and a staff who we found were very friendly and very helpful. All that at a very reasonable rate!! Plus there's an excellent Italian restaurant next door!! more

We ended up staying at the Amberger after a last-minute scramble for a room, and although I was happy to find accomodation there I don't think I'd stay again. The room was tiny and stuffy, the furnishings a little run-down. This is definitely a package tour kind of place. Breakfast was good and plentiful, staff was friendly, location is okay--not... more

Having spent 10 days in 3 different hotels in various regions of Germany, this hotel is the worst, it is very dark and drab. The reception staff on the whole are not very friendly and make you feel as if you are asking them for their first born when you only want a taxi or some laundry doing!! Every request... more
