We stayed at Hotel Sonne for one night in mid-September. We had read that Fussen is not one of those quaint Alp towns, but a tourist layover for visiting Neuschwanstein. But that’s exactly why we picked it. The day we checked in we had spent most of our day in Rothenberg then driving the two plus hours to Fussen. We... More

Location - great location. Harder to be more centrally-located to the main shopping strip, short walk to the city hall, castle, and monastery. Was easy to find using GPS. Room - we had a spacious 2 double bed room on the 1st floor (not ground). The bathroom was super spacious too. Very nicely designed room. Blackout blinds were nice to... More

Beautiful hotel just 2 blocks from the train and bus stations. The Sonne's restaurant was elegant with plush furnishings (the Maximillian, I enjoyed the beef with balsamic/chocolate sauce). Their complimentary breakfast was the best among the 7 hotels during our European tour-several egg dishes as well as fresh fruit and the more typical pastries, meat and cheeses, too. Right out... We spent 2 nights at the Hotel Sonne and were so pleased with the hospitality shown to us. We were met at the reception desk by Marina, the most pleasant, positive young woman, who was most helpful getting us oriented to the hotel and area. She suggested that we get tickets for Neushwanstein early in the morning and come back... More

This hotel is ideal situated for visiting Schlösser Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, Schloss Linderhof, Ettal Abtei, Oberammergau, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and even Lindau am Bodensee. The beautiful building oozes an authentic atmosphere with all the facilities you need. We stayed at the spacious “Romantic room” because it has no carpet but a wooden floor instead. The bathroom is spacious, modern with a bath,... More

Beautiful building, great service and a wonderful basement restaurant, with great steaks and wines. Located in one of the most beautiful regions of Germany. A place to stay and enjoy, where hiking is a must.

We only stayed one night but the staff was very accommodating. The room was spotless, the decor was really fun and unusual, and the breakfast was the best we've had in Germany thus far. The front street is VERY loud and you can't keep your windows open; but, when the room was too hot after we closed them, the staff... More

Nice hotel with helpful and attentive staff. We had a room in the newer wing where the rooms are quite eclectic. We liked ours which had quite dramatic décor and colours – it certainly made a nice change from the seven others (very white!) we had stayed in on this trip. However, the room and bathroom were definitely on the... More

I actually would rate this hotel a 3 1/2. We stayed at the Sonne for 3 nights in the Romantic Zimmer which was spacious, bright and had a large, modern bathroom. Housekeeping was great. Whenever we returned to our room after breakfast, our room was already made up. The staff was also very professional and helpful. The hotel is very... More

Perfect location for exploring the town of Fussen and for trips to the castles nearby. Decor is a bit funky and the rooms were a bit small...but we really enjoyed our stay. Parking underground can be a bit challenging with a larger vehicle - be warned that the garage is tight an requires some maneuvering. We ate at the hotel... More
