No, you won't ge the sleek elegance of the Mandarin Oriental. Or the opulence of the Four Seasons for that matter. The rooms are in fact decorated in a rather simple and basic way.
But, they are spotless, comfortable, quiet, in a great location and run by a lovely crew so it adds up to a 4 for me....

the hotel lies exactly in between the two main vital roads of munich; maximillian and marient platz. Other than the location, everything else is less than the expected standards from a 4 stars hotel. The level of cleaness is poor (towels were smelly and dirty), and the garden is tiny.
We travelled with our son who is 18 months old and chose Maximilian because we needed a kitchenette and a sitting room wnere we could be while our son was sleeping.
I liked everything in this hotel: the location, the helpful and attentive staff, the apartment which was not only very comfortable, but also quite stylish.
The hotel is central...

This was our first visit to Munich (Berlin is our usual pre-Christmas choice) so we weren't too sure quite what to expect.
Despite less than helpful signs at Isartor station we found the Maximilian very easily. Efficient friendly check-in in perfect English. We were early so registered and left our bags to explore. On our return we were shown to...

I stayed at the Hotel Maximilian for 3 nights in November. The garden studio was very spacious, tastefully decorated and had a lovely view of the peaceful winter garden. The bed was very comfortable and the room spotless. I was very impressed by the standard of service and politeness of the staff.
The location is brilliant, in the heart of...

Stay here. It is quiet and clean. The front desk staff needs a kick in the pants. They seem perfectly happy watching you struggle up the steps with your bags. Hey, you can't have everything.
It's amazing to me that this hotel/short stay apartment complex is not more highly rated! The location is perfect right in the Alstadt a few blocks from all the action, yet removed enough to make it peaceful and relaxing. We had a garden studio which was beautiful, extremely well appointed and had a balcony overlooking a gorgeous garden area with...

Stayed here again for a second time - the last time being July 2010. The property itself and the location are still top class. The room, a garden studio was lovely and spotlessly clean.
Last year the room was cleaned daily and coffee pods etc. replaced. This year cleaning was only carried out on a Tuesday only and there was...

We have been regular costumers of the Maximilian every December for the past 3 years. During these cold days in Munich, the Maximilian is like being at home away from home. It is quiet, confortable, clean and conviniently located. The staff is always available and helpful. We never had to worry about anything. The kitchenette in the room is a...
