I have stayed at hostels that were 10 times nicer than Hotel Herzog. Although we had very few choices around Oktoberfest, paying $270 a night to stay here was ridiculous. Herzog is getting a bit tired and could probably do with a really good spring clean. But if you want somewhere cheap and convenient for sleeping only, then it does the job. Lack of aircon can be a problem in summer. The bar is never well stocked. Breakfast is excellent. more

We stayed at the Herzog for one night while visiting Munich, and chose it because of the price and location. As previous posters have mentioned, it is VERY close to the Oktoberfest site, which means that September is high season for them.
