Firstly I was put in a boiling hot room on the 5th floor. On complaining I got a larger room on the 4th floor. The air conditioning makes a terrible smell. Felt ill after staying in this place. Most people who stay here will be doing business with Siemens or the local university. Its convenient for both. The Bayerisherhof is typical of its type - not international standard but doesn't pretend to be - its there to provide reasonably priced accomodation for business travellers and it succeeds at this - just don't expect a spa or a swimming... more
I go to Erlangen often on business. Have stayed at all the "major" hotels in this city and Hotel Bayerischer Hof is by far the worst. We stayed for 6 days. Very friendly staff, went out of their way for our children, anti allergy pillows available, air con in every room, children had a suite which was huge, Lovely breakfast, immaculately clean rooms, beautiful interesting foyer etc. Polite friendly staff, reception etc. Close to shops, park, tourist information. This is the best hotel in Erlangen; walking distance to all destinations you'll likely want to get to (hospitals, Siemens, tourist sites). Comparatively quiet, a/c in some rooms.
