very nice restaurant which serves traditional Bavarian food, and even has its own beer! the service is good, prices are a bit higher than usual in Germany, but you get good food for money value in an perfect atmosphere.

This was the first time our family of 6 (four teenage / student sons) had visited Bavaria. Oberammergau was the perfect location to explore the villages and countryside and visit Ludvig 2nd's fairytale castles. We were delighted with this hotel - superb balconies, very comfortable and well equipped rooms, and we had a quirky bathroom with window into the bedroom... More

First let me confirm this is a very nice and generally comfortable hotel in a beautiful location. The problem is that it is clearly overrated. I booked expecting a 5* hotel and indeed the price is 5*. Unfortunately my expectation of 5* do not include dangling cords from the TV set, local loud radio with ads in the breakfast area,... More

I was at the Maximilian for the second time. Only one night to visit my daughter. Like last time, the experience was truly excellent. Very very friendly staff. Rooms are great, everything is there. I can recommend this for everyone who likes the combination of a five star hotel feeling and a very friendly family type environment.

We just spent 2 nights at the Hotel Maximilian. It was lovely. Small hotel but very comfortable, modern rooms. The balconies were such a treat to sit and watch the beautiful surrounding mountains. The breakfast was only ok but being Southern Americans, we like a bigger breakfast. Food was fine, just limited choices and nothing special. Many things to do... More

No doubt the best hotel in Oberammergau, with only a few downsides. Really great rooms (Superior and De Luxe) with all you need just like any large city luxury hotel. Nice balcony where you can enjoy the sunset viewing the nice mountainous surroundings. OK breakfast and a good restaurant. Unfortunately there are roads on all balcony sides. The roads are... More

The rooms are simply beautiful! The decor is modern and tasteful, the rooms are very spacious and offer everything you could want or need in a room. The bathroom we had offered a huge tub and the entire room was warm and had great lighting. I really loved the luxury touches of automated shades, music in every room with a... More

I have been to "the Max" several times in 2013, and it is highly recommended. Rooms are very spacious and tastefully decorated, large bed, a large terrace/patio, own coffee machine and a well-equipped bathroom and minibar. Not that you need a minibar, the hotel has its own brewery resulting in the exellent "Maxbräu" and a great bar and restaurant. The... More

Fantastic place with topp service. The food and beer is very good. The hotel is central in Overammergau and just a small walk from everything. I have visited Oberammergau several times before and will the hotel will be my first hotel to search for next time in Oberammergau.

Modern hotell with a touch of german tradition. Big rooms with great bathrooms. Bright and clean, with housekeeping twice a day ( for that luxury feel). The restaurant serves some of the best food in Oberammergau and have its own brewery(which is always fun). The best thing though is probably the service. So open and friendly. I have only one...
