On the positive side, the rooms are large, bright and well furnished. Some rooms have wonderful views of the mountains. There is good shopping near the hotel, and there is a an excellent pastry shop across the street. The staff at the front desk are friendly and very helpful. On the negative side, the lobby and hallways are dark and... More

Our holidays in Berchtesgaden started in this friendly, if simple hotel. In the Maximilianstrasse, it has great views of the Watzmann and the other mountains and it just ten minutes away from the Weihnachtsschutzenplatz - the site of the Advent market.

My husband and our friends had 2 rooms at this hotel. Parking is very limited but there is a public parking garage located just a few minutes walk away. Spend the extra $10 or so to upgrade to a better room like our friends did; although our room was just fine. Hotel was well kept and in the perfect location... More

This was our fourth visit to Berchtesgaden and our third stay in the Hotel Wittelsbach. We picked it the first time because of its central location, wanting to be in the town rather than down near the station. It's really handy, no more than 5 mins' walk to anywhere in town, which is especially good when going out for dinner... More

Stayed here 2 nights and found it very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was roomy with a great view from a balcony. Parking, at a cost, was behind the hotel and very tight. Having a brand new car, the tight turn into the parking lot was a concern.

We spent for a triple room almost 160 euros (what I consider very expensive considering what it deliver). The hotel is nice, with a big and beautiful stair, rooms and barrooms are spacious. The breakfast is on the average of the hotels in the area. When we got to our our floor I saw a guest seated on the stairs... More

The elevator did not work when we got there which was a negative. We were given a room on the third floor which my wife could not manage due to the stairs and a back issue. When I brought this to the attention of the desk, we were quickly relocated to a first floor room. This room was a balcony... More

Stayed here for one night only but was left with a good impression. The hotel is historic , with an elegant interior lobby. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and there are maps and guides in various languages. The room was spacious and clean, with a small balcony. We stayed overnight on Saturday so there was a little... More

We stayed here for two nights and have mixed feelings about our stay. The staff were courteous and polite and the hotel is in a great location. Our room faced the tiny hotel car park and the rooms were very dated and had a damp smell to it. It looks like it was last updated in the 70's. The pillows... More

We stayed for 3 nights with our teens. Our room had great views and the charming balcony was fun to sit on in the evenings. The noise from the street (cars and people) kept us up some nights as we had to leave windows open because it was a bit warm. The room was clean and adequate. The staff were... More
