We have stayed here three times and the old style charm was inviting and made our stay magical. In the shadow of the Festival House, there is no other place to stay if you are there for a Wagnerian opera.
We found our way to this charming old world hotel one cold and rainy November. Without reservations and certainly off season, we had a wonderful time. Then again during festival, we had a magic time! Beautiful rooms, excellent service....OK no BBC but the beautiful service, lovely rooms and great location made up for no wifi. I simply long to return.
This is the second time my husband and myself stayed at the Goldener Anker in Bayreuth. Although we attend the opera for a week, the highlight of our vacation is often the ambiance we enjoy as guests of the charming hotel. The gracious staff is attentive to any and every request, the dining is superb, and it is a delight...

The first appearance is positive, however the hotel aims to be more than it is. For overseas visitors that try to experience some Disney-like "old-fashioned" Europe perhaps what they seek. However what is
most annoying is a charge of 48 euros for 24 hour internet (which at the end doesn't work due to poor signal in our room), the staff...

This is a great place to stay – friendly, charming, well-located and comfortable. The same family has been running the Goldener Anker since the eighteenth century and they are certainly doing a great job. My room was perfect -- the bed was comfortable, the bathroom worked flawlessly, the decorations were tasteful and the view was picturesque. Very important for me,...

I spent three idyllic days at this wonderful Hotel. Every person on the staff was friendly. The atmosphere was warm and hospitable. My room was excellent. Firm new mattress. New bathroom with tub and standup shower. Crisp pressed linens. Tasteful oriental rug. 18th century etchings. The dinners are outstanding. What a Chef they have! Excellent wine selection. The breakfasts were...

We have just returned from our first Bayreuther Festspiele. We stayed at the Goldener Anker for ten wonderful days. The room and service were impeccable as was the restaurant. The stars of the "show" were the staff and the owner who could not have been more helpful and appropriately friendly. This is more a home than a hotel. We compared...

I was staying here second year in row and am quite satisfied with accomodation. That's place for old style Wagner lovers - bit stiff and magic. Service is attentive, breakfast excellent (no self-service), accomodation non-standart, on every corner you can feel hundred years of history. Nevertheless here is internet available for affordable price which usually isn't case in business hotels.
We spent eight wonderful days at the Hotel Golden Anchor in November while visiting relatives in Bayreuth.. We were catered to taken care of by the excellent staff and the innkeeper Frau Graf-Handel. Our family booked the entire hotel for the weekend to celebrate a 50th birthday one evening and a 25th wedding anniversary the next. Both nights the dinners...

The Hotel Ankler is the place to stay while visiting Bayreuth. The hotel oozes old-world charm and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We booked a lovely suite and couldn't have been happier. The furnishings were antique and very classy. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially for those looking for a romantic getaway.
