Very nice traditional hotel just outside the Altstadt with easy access and parking. Overlooks the Maisel's brewery yard and is next door to the beautiful brick-built old brewery building. Only a short walk to the pedestrianised Alstadt, the hotel is very well situated. Nice single rooms, very good breakfast choice (including all of their lovely jams). Would stay again without... Whatever you do dont bok rom 14 - its TINY. Maybe the smallest hotel room I have ever been in. Just enough space for a single bed and a writing desk which I think doubles as a wardrobe. Thankfully the neighbouring room 12 was free - but guess what? It was GYNOURMOUS! You could easily fit five or six beds... More

Anexcellent family run hotel and restaurant with outstanding service and quality. Occupies a listed building in a quite area not far from the shopping area and centre. I would recommend it and return to stay withpleasure when I willbe in the area!!

Stayed here whilst on business nearby, rooms are a bit hit and miss, some are big enough others are far too small. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was good with choice of pastries, cereals, fruit and eggs etc. Evening meals were very good, lots to choose from, steaks, flamberkuchen, schnitzels etc and all very good. Service was fine. Hotel is... More

Room fairly small. Comfortable beds, good shower. Street noisy but earplugs are provided; traffic noise stops overnight though. Blinds on windows to supplement thin curtains. Bottled water provided in room although the seal had been broken. Excellent breakfast with plenty of variety. Fresh fruit salad was very nice. Twenty different sorts of jam. Staff pleasant. Were given a jar of... More

Having been told by locals that this unassuming Gasthof or inn had very good food, my wife and I decided to try it because it lay along one of the main bus routes and was close to where we were staying. We misunderstood the question if we wished to eat outside, chose the inside, and found a small, very unprepossessing... More

This is a very nice hotel, food is excellent and I like the golden lion in front and the photos on the wall are excellently done. The room was nice and large though the curtains are flimsy. Why did I put this as average. Well on the morning of leaving we wanted to look around Bayreuth before we went onwards.... More

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel and had a great time. It's not fancy or modern but it has everything you'll need for a short stay at a small town like Bayreuth. Great restaurant with reasonable prices. Rooms not so big but very nice bed (downside for our room was there was no blackout curtains, only a very thin... More

Even when the Wagner Festspiel is not going on, Bayreuth’s hotels are more expensive than you would expect. When it is going on, you have no choice but to pay. That makes the Goldener Löwe a reasonable value for the price. The hotel is on the edge of the city center and near the big mall. Everything except the Festspielhaus... More

I have stayed for 3 night in this hotel, and the service was great: normally kitchen closes at 10pm, but we arrived a little later, and a call was enough to keep the kitchen open until we arrived. Everybody working in this hotel is extremly friendly, the breakfast is great (different bread, juices, cereals including homemade Birchner-muesli!, egg's with smiling... More
