First of all, every Hotel anywhere near Bayreuth during the annual Wagner festival doubles it's price, so beware July and August. However, having travelled through Europe for almost twenty years, I can not understand how this hotel possibly gained four stars. I live in Bavaria and am well aware of standards and prices. The rooms are very basically furnished; in need of renovation and there are not even the most basic of cosmetics: The soap and Shower Gel coming from the same cheap plastic mounted pump. Our room was noisy and when we complained we were told that was the best room we could expect as we had not booked directly with the hotel itself, but through the internet (we used HRS.) Basically it was second class treatment as we had used the internet to save a few Euros. We did get another room, but it was scarcely better.
