Good location and cheap but incredibly small rooms. The smell of old smoke was also disturbing. Finally the scaffolding at the windows is the last touch to make you really uncomfortable. Would be OK for one night but it was quite depressing to stay a full week. Note that the wifi is very fast.

We stayed here on our Rhine cycle holiday and cannot recommend either the location or this hotel. The hotel is not in a good part of town, and is quite a walk to the centre with no apparent restaurants nearby. The rooms were very poor for their money- more like student rooms, although the price did not reflect this. It... More

The good part is that it is on the tram line, few minutes from the main train station. Clean and cozy. Mostly, it is reasonably priced. The bad thing is the heat was not working properly -keep in mind it is February and the temperature is in the single digit! The shower can barely fit a regular size person -:)... More

I stayed here for 2 nights for the German Grand Prix. It was a very comfortable stay and staff were helpful. It was about 10 minutes to the train station and about the same to the main area in the other direction. I was pleased with it

The Hotel Barbarossa is located in the district close to the central station of Karlsruhe. It's a nice quiet area with little roads with many shops that seems to be populated by people from all around the world. This 3-stars hotel was choses because of a nice offer on Booking.com and the stay was pleasant. I slept in a single... More

Splendid small hotel near Station and Theatre. Basic but comfortable, and very good value. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. If arriving after 2100, you need to phone and get a code to pick up the key from a box beside the hotel. All staff appear to speak decent English, so phoning is not a problem, but you cannot arrive late without... More

My niece and I stayed for 7 nights on a business trip. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The room had two twin-beds and was very clean. Great free daily breakfast which included smoked salmon and a variety of cold-cuts and breads, fresh juices, yogurt, soft boiled eggs, and great coffee. Many German business people stay here and for the... More

Stayed in Karlsruhe using the Barbarossa as our base while attending the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim. The hotel is on a quiet side street three minutes walk from the nearest tram stop, a two stop ride from the main railway station. I'd describe the hotel as quaint, basic rooms and facilities but the staff were very attentative and welcoming... More
