This charming accommodation is located in the old town of Heidelberg in an old Gasthaus. It is part of Kulturbrauerei, which has more rooms in the main building. We stayed in a room, spanning two floors connected by a wooden staircase (living area downstairs and bedroom upstairs). The bedroom was lovely, particularly the wood beams. Overall, the service and communication were great.

A traditional Gasthaus selling local traditional food - what a delight. It was asparagus season and we both had to choose it. I had asparagus (the fat white stuff) with local ham and hollandaise sauce. My son chose a Schnitzel with asparagus. It was so delicious. The service was excellent, the staff friendly. You could sit out on the pavement or inside with the windows wide open so there was plenty of air. I cleaned my plate, and would go back again tomorrow.

I took my teenage son here for supper. Owned by the Kulturbrauerei so serves its fantastic beer. Deep sense of history as a meeting place for students and thinkers of the past with connections to the university. Food was enjoyable though not particularly remarkable, come here for the atmosphere rather than its culinary output.

Our room was comfortable and the bathroom good. The street is noisy at times because of so many tourists in that part of town, but it was still a lovely location. And being above such an atmospheric and good bar/restaurant was PERFECT!! The food and drinks were superb, as was the service. We ate and drank there several times during our stay. Room and food all very good for the price.

Visited this restaurant for dinner. Great food and beer, awesome setting with all sorts of historical photos and memorabilia, live piano, friendly staff, and a presentation by a staff member about Zum Seppl and it's history (in German) all made for a fab night to remember!!

I was travelling back from Zurich to Frankfurt with a american guy after working at Zurich airport and he suggested stopping of on his home town for night , he took me to this hotel and booked me in very helpful staff booked me in no problem and took me to my room very old building which has been modernized very tastefully bit funny to find your way around it . room was very good clean with all the things you would expect . Had a job finding my way back to reception but got there . i sat in court yard awaiting my friend and his wife for a meal waitress came over and asked if i would like a drink so asked for a half ltr. of beer which came and on offering to pay she said free from our brewery for guests . had a meal in the restaurant with my friend and was told since first time in Germany to try the sauerkraut bit apprehensive but tried it and loved it. very old place very nicely done, town have not seen one better it just oozes history and old buildings and that old bridge . I would love to go back again and explore. i would recommend anyone to visit this place just for the views and history…

We visited with 10+ persons in our group for dinner (booked in advance by our hotel - we stayed elsewhere and only dined here) and Zum Seppl just managed to find a big enough table for us. The atmosphere was special - tables, chairs were clearly very old, with a lot of inscriptions etc. Walls are full of pictures and small shields. According to their web page there has been a restaurant here from the 17th century - one finds this believable once inside. Location is good in the old town. The staff was kind, service good and likewise the food - there was clearly some focus on the size of the portions, but it was tasty nevertheless (though not for you if you are looking for the fine dining experience). In addition, of course very good beer and also ok wine. It seemed the whole group enjoyed the stay, so one can recommend if you're looking for a business dinner but want to have some local specialty and out of the usual. Do dress casual.…

Wonderful atmosphere of days gone by. We indulged in a somehow strange past of a historic student tavern. The restaurant is very special:Dark rooms filled with old photos, inscriptions and a legendary collection of shields that make this location like no other in the world. We haven't seen anything similar before. The food is surprisingly delicious (not a tourist trap at all!): Solid German specialities, a bit heavy and tasty beer. Even the choice of wines is OK: go for the local or regional ones!

I recently dined at the Wirtshaus “Zum Seppl”, which is the restaurant attached to the hotel. I was told the restaurant has been here for a long time, but I think they're resting on their laurels, as the food was quite bad. We had a pasta dish that was way over salted, and the meats in other dishes were dry and bland. The service wasn't that great either. I do not recommend this place.
