Yes the themed rooms are interesting in principle. We had the Bali room with its carvings and curtains although these did not look Balinese to me and we saw no hipsters. Anyway the room was facing the street giving a good view and also had a window looking out the back as well with no real view except for exhaust... More

Positive: The Hip Hotel is smack in the middle of the old town on the main shopping/ entertainment pedestrian street. Negative: If your room faces this street, you will need earplugs to sleep with open windows (lots of rauceous noise till the early hours, but at least windows shut out noise perfectly, but be aware no air-con…) Positive: The rooms... I think the idea of having rooms themed to different cities of the world is great, and there certainly are some that are amazing. I stayed in the Dakar room though and found it rather on the scary side with its large African masks looking at me and the dim lights. Guess it's best to specify which room you want... More

We had a great time in this hotel with the family, My husband and I were in the Down Under room, Wow....great fun everything in a normal room was attached to the ceiling i e the coffee table, fruit bowl ,Lampstand, even the bedcovers appeared to be attached alongside credit cards and camera. Obviously these were just props as we had... More

My friend and I adored this boutique hotel! We were pleasantly surprised about its location as it is in the center of the Altstadt "Old City" on the Hauptstrasse or "Main Street". Old City is incredible with its history and cobbled streets. I felt like I was in a movie! We were in the center of everything! Shops, Restaurants, Bars,... More

My oldest studies at the university here so we wanted to be near him. My daughter and I stayed here just before we flew home. Itisn't the most convenient with lots of luggage and if you come by bus or train it can be challenging but doable my travel partner was 3 and she dragged her suitcase behind her. We... More

This is our first trip to Europe, and the Hip Hotel in Heidelberg was our first stop of a 2 week adventure. We love this boutique hotel. It is located in the center of the Altstadt (old city) with it's front entrance on the Hauptstrasse (Main Street). It's close to everything. The rooms are all decorated after a city from... More

I had reason to be in the Heidelberg area where my colleague and I needed one nights accommodation. For whatever reason two of the most popular hotels were fully booked and based on the Tripadvisor reviews and its very location my colleague booked us into the Hip Hotel. This independent family owned and run hotel is located right on the... More

Truly a centrally located hotel. It was quite a novel surprise to be given a room name, rather a room number, and with the deco to match. We stayed in Paris, which was decorated in the 1920s style. Being in the attic room, it was not so well-lit. Though there was the elevator, for many rooms, one still has climb... More

This is a quirky and unconventional but good quality hotel. Every room is different, themed on a different city around the world. Even the elevator has room names instead of floors. The decor has been carefully planned and each room has a few apparently authentic features to give an impression of that country. I stayed there 7 times over 4... More
