One of my favourite hotels to stay - full stop. Themed rooms are good fun - I've stayed in many of them now. Service is always very good, breakfast choices are more than ample and in a beautiful old setting. Restaurant also a very good dinner choice, though you do have many options throughout the Altstadt. Highly recommended

We really liked this place! It mixed tradition with imagination, the themed room were a fantastic idea. We had the Zermatt room, generously sized with ample space for 4 and the exploding luggage. Great location in the heart of the Altstadt, easy walk to the castle and the Philosophenweg. Lots of handy bakeries and cafes, we'd definitely stay here again.

Hotel was located in nice area in middle of city. Easy access to train to see the castle. Christmas markets in 5 parts of the city. They do not tell you on the website that you can not drive on the street to your hotel. You'll need to park in Lot 10 or Lot 11. Parking is expensive so be... More

Wonderful themed hotel located right in the middle of the old town. Location excellent. City Parking lot is close by (200m), reasonably priced (around €11 24 hrs) and you can drive right up to the hotel to drop your bags off even though your GPS will tell you it's a pedestrian zone. Breakfast is not as good as other German... More

Drove in to Heidelberg and found ourselves in a deadlock of traffic, it was apparently the summer festival when the Heidelberg castle will be lit up with fireworks! Found this hotel while we were walking in the middle of the city centre. We didn't stay in this hotel because it's fully booked (obviously), however, but the receptionist was extremely helpful.... Rooms are world city themed, ours was Delhi, good sized room, extremely comfortable bed. Pleasant helpful staff. Generous breakfast. Restaurant/bar had traditional decor. We enjoyed our few days here.

Nice hotel ideally situated on the hauptstrasse ( main st ), themed rooms based on different places around the world. I stayed in " Dublin " which was ok but I had to take a photo of " Mololo ", which had sand and muriels on the wall depicting a beach scene. Irish bar close by done excellent pub food.

Yes the themed rooms are interesting in principle. We had the Bali room with its carvings and curtains although these did not look Balinese to me and we saw no hipsters. Anyway the room was facing the street giving a good view and also had a window looking out the back as well with no real view except for exhaust... More

Positive: The Hip Hotel is smack in the middle of the old town on the main shopping/ entertainment pedestrian street. Negative: If your room faces this street, you will need earplugs to sleep with open windows (lots of rauceous noise till the early hours, but at least windows shut out noise perfectly, but be aware no air-con…) Positive: The rooms... I think the idea of having rooms themed to different cities of the world is great, and there certainly are some that are amazing. I stayed in the Dakar room though and found it rather on the scary side with its large African masks looking at me and the dim lights. Guess it's best to specify which room you want... More
